and it was past and present, the basque passage compsared the life he had before (i.e. describing the way there, the memories of the people who thought he was a city dweller, his summer dream) to the present (i.e. the renovations taking place across his street). the passage does emphasize reality, but doesn’t say too much about idealism or make that much of a distinction between idealism and reality - true, the reluctance to face reality could be considered idealism, but it isn’t a focal point of the passage and in any case the past vs. present more directly answers the question. also idealism is kind of like a distortion of reality, but like i said before, it’s more of a reluctance to face reality.

I divided 51 by 3 to get 17, so then I looked at 17 which was green (after blue 16), so then I just thought 51 would be green as well because it repeats 17*3 times to 51.
what were the options for the gung ho spirit and yankee question?

for gung ho spirit i put unrealistic expectations. it’s not inadequate explanations because the author of the passage was being sarcastic by comparing them to political promises (which are never kept) and thus emphasizes how idealistic the population is by believing that mars could be terraformed that simply.

i didn’t think it was admiration of enthusiastic qualities because the author didn’t admire the people who wanted to terraform mars, he had adopted a skeptical and sarcastic tone towards them so he couldn’t think of them in a positive aspect.
@navywinter I would argue the opposite, citing the fact he explicitly states I don’t think the gung ho spirit and Yankee…explain… In the preceding sentence. This directly supports the idea it is an inadequate explanation.
@terraform I used a similar reasoning and got green. Can someone tell me the closest to what the question said I’m going to ask a professional tutor. Btw I’m referring to the ring red question thingy.

For Mars, I narrowed one of the questions (about the rogues’ gallery lines) down to whether Mars is the best planet or if it invites further development. I picked the best planet because they always want you to take everything literally, and they put it in the paragraph about planetary comparison.
