Official March SAT Math Discussion 2008

OK - I haven't heard this question mentioned so far. It was near the end (or in the second half) of one of the sections.

I can't remember the problem exactly. If I remember correctly, it involved a function of g with 4.

It looked like this: "g(4) = ....." and had a table with some values. I can't remember exactly what it asked, but does anyone else know what I'm talking about? For some reason I had trouble with this one. Anyways, does anybody remember what they put for this - or what exactly the question was? I want to think I put D or E, but I can't remember for sure.

Thanks.

patcs:

I think it was -1

Hmm... Do you know which answer choice that was? I really can't remember the question well enough to remember what answer (#) I put.

i know this was a simple question on the test, but there was a problem asking about hotel rooms and how to compute the hotel room number using "n"... did anyone get n-200 for the answer?

err i thought it was n+200?

maybe it misread the question, but was the hotel room question: what is the room number of nth room? or how far from the end is room number n? I read it the former way and got n+200, but if I misread the question, the answer should be n-200.

It was n+200

ok so you guys prolly went over the q with the two lines and the point p reflected over those two line, but there are so many posts iama gonna ask what you guys got for that. I got A which at that time i was sure of, but now i am having some doubts. help?

it was definitely n-200

no, it was n+200. if it was n-200, the room numbers would be negative.

Yes, n+200. If n was the room number and the question asked for the distance from the end, then n-200 would be correct. However, the question asked for the room number of the nth room from the end. Right...?

ya i put n+200

see... that's the thing. i am in no way disagreeing with anyone, but as i was going through the test, i found that i had put down n+200 and then changed it because i re-read the question... does anyone remember exactly what it asked for?

was it that the first room was 200 .. and u wanted to find the number of the nth room ... so that wud be 200+n

It's definitely n+200...I did not misread the question and for sure it is n+200. Just accept the fact that you got this question wrong...

ruiL514... as i said above, i was not disagreeing or not accepting, but just wanted to know what the question was asking so that i could see what i did wrong, and if i got it wrong, i got it wrong. i just want to know why

does anyone remember a question that had a triangular prism... and you had to find the length of a line segment that connected two midpoints?

lol RuiL, so harsh.

"JUST ACCEPT THE FACT U GOT THIS QUESTION WRONG"

15 more days.. :)

circumlocution2: Don't worry about that one, it was in the experimental section.
