hope2help: I am wondering the same. My D just received the Trustees scholarship today and it made me wonder if it was because she was rejected from Morrill…I hope not.

mspearl: I heard from the director of the PSL scholars program that receiving the Provost scholarship does not prevent a student from still being considered for the Morrill. So, that might be good news? Good luck to your daughter.

My son has been accepted to the Honors Program and has received the Maximus Scholarship. Does anyone know if they need to be interviewed for the Morrill Scholarship? He is still waiting to hear about the Presidential and Medalist Scholarship.

If i apply this late before the deadline will I have any chance to get a Morrill scholarship?

~3.7 GPA (92 avg)
28 ACT (31 Math, 29 Science 27 Eng, 26 Reading)
1240 SAT

Yankee 17- sorry but you cannot be considered for Morrill Scholarship. To be considered for certain merit scholarships at OSU you had to apply by Dec. 1.

You do not interview for the Morrill Scholarship. Also for others-Morrill can be combined with other scholarships so receiving other scholarships does not mean you are out of the running for the Morrill scholarship.

Well you do interview for the Morrill Distinction scholarship but not for the other two.

thank you itsv.

My son was asked to interview for Distinction. Reading posts from prior years, it looks like even after an interview students may not get any Morrill scholarship. So, even though the interview is for Distinction, I wonder if it isn’t used in part to rank overall, which leads to Distinction/Prominence/Excellence/Defered/Declined.

Just a thought, but others may have a better insight.

Do you mind telling how he was invited to interview (phone call, email) and when?

Anyone else invited to interview? If so, how were you notified? and when is weekend?? Thanks, congrats to all and fingers crossed here!

Dylan3, by email. I think it was Wednesday of this week (so about 1/25).
He was asked to provide time on one of 3 days offered in February - and specify whether coming to campus or by phone.

Was the e-mail notification to your OSU e-mail or the e-mail used on the application?

Must have been the email address on the application

Has anyone else been invited to interview for the Morrill Scholarship? Sadly, we haven’t heard a word about it.

have not heard either

I can’t believe JohnKS is the only one that has received an email invitation to interview for the Distinction. It doesn’t make sense? There have been thousands of views to this forum. You would think there would be more posting that they got an email invite? Well, a week has gone by since then and no one else has posted either. I also find it odd that on the 24th of January I call the office and they told me invites for the Distinction had not gone out and that it would be a few weeks. They also told me that about 60 kids get invited and 10 will be awarded. If there is anyone else out there that got the interview email, please post.

I’m planning to transfer from Columbus state with 46 credits and a 3.9 gpa, what are my chances? I know my GPA is high but I’m worried I won’t get in because Columbus state isn’t thought of as hard.

I agree with you also that it doesn’t make sense. It’s rather odd about the lack of invites for Morrill interviews.

I know we are disappointed here not to get the invitation. But maybe the students who did get invited just aren’t on CC?
