I know how difficult the wait can be so I registered on this site just to post that my D was invited for the Distinction interview as well. I have no idea if all those who will be invited have been but I doubt it. My D was accepted into OSU in early Nov and had the MSP submitted in late Oct and was told her application would be among the first group evaluated. Since the interview isn’t until Feb 17th I’m assuming they are still evaluating those who completed the app closer to the deadline and will be contacting more students? If you really need to know I would suggest sending an email. I did that and they replied back within a day.

I haven’t received an email either, but I plan on emailing them to ask about the invitations.

I’d say my son was running about half a week behind Goodbuck. I understand they won’t announce awards until mid to late March. Since they are probably processing applications as they came in, I suppose they could be sending out invitations until lat February.

I emailed toni and she said that the emails are going out now

Can you be more specific? Did she mean emails are going out now with invitations to interview? Just wondering because I know someone who got the Excellence scholarship last year and was notified at the beginning of January. The wait is killing me! Not expecting to be invited to interview, but still hopin to hear something soon.

Yes, emails are going out for invitation to interview.

My daughter just received this scholarship!! Full tuition! Chance for full everything with interview but OH. MY. GOD. this is amazing. We are screaming and crying!

Congratulations to you and your daughter. What a great feeling that must be!! Wonderful to see hard work paying off. Was your daughter notified by phone or e-mail? Our D hasn’t heard a word so I’m guessing she wasn’t selected.

My son also heard through e-mail today. Hope2help…maybe they are notifying in the order they received the applications. ?? Not sure.

Hope this answers some questions:

We were notified by email this afternoon
She received the Excellence scholarship and will at minimum receive full instate tuition. That is a done deal.

If she is recommended by the scholarship committee she will soon be receiving an invitation to interview for the Distinction scholarship. But she for sure has full tuition!

It would be great to get the invite but if not we are THRILLED with full tuition. A HUGE BURDEN has been relieved this afternoon. I can’t even describe how bad we needed this to happen as a family.

Good luck to all the others, I hope you get good news soon!

That is wonderful mspearl and sammy. I wonder do they notify people who don’t recieve the scholarship

Classy, thank you! If you go to their webpage under FAQ, they say you will be notified either way…I think they said March sometime. Good luck!!

Ok and thanks

My daughter heard via e-mail, that she got the Excellnce Scholarship with a chance for interview if selected by Selection Committee!

My daughter got the email yesterday at 2:35 PM. Here is what it said:

Hello-

Congratulations on being awarded the Excellence scholarship through the Morrill Scholars Program!

As an in-state student - you will minimally receive the “Excellence avard” which is equivalent to the value of in-state tuition and if you are recommended by the Selection Committee for a Distinction Interview then you will receive an email invite. Please look for an email from the Program Manager with this information.

The award level will be posted to your online MSP account, and if there is a change in the award, then that will be reflected in your status on your MSP online account in March 2012.

Once again congratulations!

Maria

I am pretty sure yesterday was the first round of emails. The sooner you got your application in the sooner you were reviewed. I am sure there will be more rolling out as the weeks go by. These are just my thoughts but I have made a lot of called along the way and have read all the previous years posts. I think there will still be more invites for interviews throughout February.

Now, just need to start finding out what scholarships can be combined? Can Morrill and Provost be combined? Good luck everyone!

Congratulations to all who have heard. So exciting!! Are you hearing thru e-mail used on MSP application or Ohio State e-mail?

Arismom, just curious are you from appalachia or another type of minority? I am curious about who they are giving this to… If you don’t want to say that is ok. :)

My D qualified due to being in appalachia.

Hope: my D found out on her regular email that she listed on her app.

@hope2help
My daughter heard through the email she used on her MSP application.

The only one on this post I know of that received an interview invite is JohnKS. His son is a white male with good stats and GBLT & Gay Alliance affiliation. Your guess is as good as mine as to how they decide this stuff. I’m not sure how many get the Excellence but when I called the office a week ago, they said only about 60 kids get invites for interviews and they end up selecting 10.

Oh yeah, I called Student Services today and they said Trustees & Morrill Excellence can be stacked (combined).

My son just said one of his friends got an e-mail today to come in for an interview for the full ride scholarship. So, reading previous posts it looks like everyone isn’t being notified at the same time. Also, we got the e-mail yesterday about the excellence scholarship, but the application status still says “submitted for review.” So, the e-mails seem to be coming before the status change. (at least for us) Good luck to everyone!!

Thanks Aris, I would love to know how many excellence scholarships will be given out. It seems at least one student from my D high school who is accepted to OSU has received this the last few years. My D focused her essay on dealing with racism in our area, a very close friend who is transgendered and how she has helped educate others in our very conservative area and about hosting a foreign exchange student and her roots in Amish culture. I was really proud of her. As I am sure we all are when it comes to our kids!
