@rlkchlk No way! I go to SMN! What a small world. Well, I hope we both get accepted and get to know more about each other next year at NU! :)

Crimsonstained7 and all others: the very fact you all applied ED to NU implies you have great potential and a splendid future ahead of you.

Just remember, whatever be the outcome (and I am hoping for the best positive outcome possible)…“this too shall pass”

Infinite best wishes to all of you

Hey guys! I’ve applied ED to Northwestern too, and am anxiously waiting a decision. However, I’m freaking out right now, as I checked CommonApp earlier today, and it does not show that my supplement was ever downloaded by the college. My application shows a “downloaded” date, but my supplement only shows a “submitted” date. I don’t know if this is a big deal or not, but it seems like decisions are being finalized, and I’m scared it would be too late for them to fix this if it is an error.

Northwestern is probably a huge reach for me, but it is absolutely my dream school. Is it possible that they decided to reject me and it wasn’t worth reviewing my supplement? Or does anyone else have this same problem?? I may be freaking out for no reason, but I’m pretty nervous about my application.

Thanks! And good luck to all of you! (:

Hey guys, just a thought for when results come out (good luck to you all!) - maybe we should start another thread just for results?

I know that this thread is really helpful for all of us applying this year, but in the interest of future NU EDers who spend hours on end analyzing these results threads (speaking from personal experience), it might be helpful to them if we created a separate thread once we all find out our decisions.

Should we create one of those results threads now because tomorrow is going to be pretty crazy around here if decisions come in.

This was intended to be results too. I think it’d be beneficial for them to comb through all of this info we’ve had up to this point too. Plus it’d be confusing to see Official NU ED 2017 Discussion and Results Thread and then another results thread.

@2013texas: CommonApp just doesn’t have a ‘downloaded’ setting for the NU Supplement, it seems, as mine also says completed.
As long as you got an email from NU about “Complete and Under Review,” then you’re all good.

I agree with Crimsonstained7. While there would be a logistical benefit of having one for purely yes, no, maybe results, keeping all of the “I got in!” and whatnot in one thread might be cleaner overall.

@rcc117 Good to know. Thanks so much!!

In anticipation of questions that arose in the past, here’s some info on how NU has handled ED notifications in the past two years:

-An email was sent to the email account the ED applicant gave them on a Friday at 5:00 CST notifying the applicant that the admission decision is available. There is a link in the email to click on to get your results.

-Some applicants found this email in their spam box.

-I know of at least one student who was admitted ED who for some reason never received his email notification and was not able to learn of his admittance until a follow up letter arrived early the following week. (He called on Monday but they would not give him the decision over the phone.)

-NU, along with at least one other highly competitive school, experienced a server crash last year which delayed some applicants being able to access their decision until the after midnight. A NU employee posted a request on CC asking ED applicants to stop clicking the refresh button nonstop because it was exacerbating the problem and delaying repair of the problem.

-There seemed to be no particular order in which ED applicants received their emails (i.e. no time zone differences and no difference in terms of decision result).

Hope this helps! Good luck! And please remember, what is most important is not whether you get in a particular school but getting into a school that is a good fit.

Does anyone know if the decision will come out today? Anyone called?

pffffffft :

I doubt the admission decision will be released today. NU usually releases their decision on the closest Friday preceding the 15th, which would be next Friday on the 14th.

I’m getting really nervous! I hope the results come out today, but I doubt just because of the sheer amount of applications and the extended deadline. Has anyone called the school to ask?

If admissions do come out today, best of luck to everyone!

Adezar, if you read all of our comments, you’d have learned that they usually come out a week earlier than expected, which would mean this week. That’s why people are guessing today. If not today, at least we know it will be by next week

anyone called?

Chilax All!- You’ve waited this long you can wait 1 more week. The term for NU ends this coming Friday 12/14. Last year they emailed on the Friday of last day Fall term.
Expect to be notified next Friday.

For those expecting a pre-email email??!! No, not going to happen. My son got in ED last year, and the acceptance lettter was in his email, followed up by a hard copy mailing in @ week.

Good luck to you all. I know it’s tough waiting, but try to look through it.

I’m still being hopeful that the variables that point to today outweigh the variables that point to next week.
Crossing my fingers that it’ll show up in an hour and 10 minutes!

Given the past two years, the speed of Columbia (and the other ivy’s) decision times, and the Quest Bridge students, the likelihood points to today. But, of course, there’s still a chance of next Friday. I do HOPE it’s today, I don’t know if I can survive much more of this wait.

Yeah, I really hope we get them in the next half hour, and if we don’t, we don’t.
Either way, fingers crossed.
