Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

we are all hoping for that to be true, aren’t we? The next 6-7 weeks are going to be a hell, the waiting is going to kill us…

I think the post counts picks up the closer it gets to decision time. But yes, I hope that not a lot of people are trying to transfer in as juniors to Stern, and that a lot of current sophomores at Stern want to leave. =P

Yes! I also hope so!!! btw, I checked last year thread, and there were much more responses than this thread till the date today(April 1st, last year’s thread was till page 40!!!) I hope it is true that we have fewer applicants this year!!!

you have to consider that many of those pages were concerned with the Spring transfer so they cannot be fairly compared by page standards… Is anyone else applying for a Psych major?

The 2010 thread had 3 pages on April 1st, while the 2008 thread has 32-33 pages, so I guess it just varies from year to year.

I’m applying to NYU CAS as a junior looking to major in Econ. Ive been out of high school (top 20 in the country) for a few years, and currently attend a CC. GPA= 3.85, pretty good ECs, previous work experience with JP Morgan, including 3 securities licenses. My SAT was about 18-1850, but I took it about 5-6 years ago so I doubt it matter much. Also I am African American. Any opinions on the strength of my app?

Hey guys, I submitted my common app half a month ago, but i havent received anything from them since then. I wonder if they offer an online ID or something where students can check their application status.

yeah they have what is called Albert, it’s an online portal. You probably should have gotten it by now, maybe shoot them an email or call them tomorrow.

Im applying to CAS as a junior level transfer. It’s a stretch, I have a 3.5 gpa from a ccc. crossing my fingers though.

I am applying from George Washington University, technically a freshman b/c I did an independent study last spring my freshman year…I am interested in the Center for Neural Science dept in CAS. great credentials…internships and volunteer in DC…solid grades.

Anyone else interested in psych/neuroscience?

Ok…anyways…I didn’t read the 2008, 2009 and 2010 thread… I just looked at the 2011 thread…I thought we have fewer applicants this year, maybe I am wrong. But anyways it is not a big deal cause I already did my best and prepared everything… Good luck to u all guys!! Let’s hope for the best

not everyone who’s transferring to nyu uses college confidential.

haha yes thats right, so maybe it was just the pyschological effect that made me think we have fewer, lol~~~

hi i was just wondering if my school forms and transcripts had to be sent in before the deadline?

When I called, they said they would notify me if they were missing any documents. I sent everything in prior to the deadline but I wanted to check if they had received all of them.

Where are you all coming from?
Who is applying to CAS?

And…
Does anyone know the stats from last year? (# transfers applied for fall and # accepted)

Can anyone post a screenshot or just explain how where they go on Albert to see the status of their application?

I studied abroad at NYU in London during the fall, so Albert only shows me the option to create/see an internal transfer application.

Hey guys!I forgot to post my stats before, I want to put it now, so anybody could chance me? Thanks!!!
Apply as a junior transfer to stern, from a cc gpa 3.85.Not going to submit SAT cause not required for junior transfer. Took summer courses in the university of pennsylvania, got A for Calculus 2, B+ for microeconomics. Have 3 recommendation letters, one from upenn pro, one from president of my current cc, one from a pro who graduated from stern (together with an instrucor’s evaluation) all 3 letters are superb, good essays, meeting all requirements… in high school took part in AMC, did well in the test, got award of distinction and was invited to AIME
My disadvantage is very obvious~~~ I do not have impressing extra curriculums:
only served in senior center in high school
global student ambassador of my current community college
member of PTK
work part time in a restaurant
Anybody also wants to transfer to stern? could someone chance me? Thanks~~~

Ok, seriously, somebody tell me the difference between the instructor’s evaluation required by NYU and the recommendation letter. Isn’t the latter included in the former?

@Tomeu11
From the official website it says:"While we prefer that the Instructor’s Evaluation Form is included with your letter of recommendation - to expedite the processing of your application - the form itself is not required and your recommender can submit a letter on your behalf without it " But I submitted both

So, if my professor wrote in the “evaluation“ section of the letter all she had to say that counts as the letter of recommendation right?
