I guess you are right and the latter is included in the former, but I am not pretty sure so thats why I submitted both, just in case~~~

my professors filled out the teacher eval and attached their letter of rec.

i also had one of my mentors from my internship write one on my behalf because i knew it could only help.

they dont require them though.

So I submitted my app. How can I check its status on the NYU website? Will they email me soon?

Also, I have one instructor evaluation+recommendation letter from a current college instructor. however I also have a really great recommendation letter from a college professor during a summer program. Would it be detrimental to send the second letter? I feel like it will only help.

I posted on here a few days ago and forgt to ask this: Does financial need play a roll in anything, or family/economic situation? I have seen a few threads and web pages and it says they target poorer students sometimes. I have a EFC of 0000 and I’m an independent student and first of all my family to go to college. Will that play a role??

@artis2011

NYU says they are need-blind, so it shouldn’t. But if you’re expecting any considerable amount of aid, don’t. NYU is notoriously poor with financial aid, especially with transfer students.

What happens if the cost of attending is $60,000 and you have an efc of 0 and they only give you $10,000 in aid per year? Do they help with loans for the other $50,000? Do you need parental co-signer(s)?

They do give you the loans, and I would guess you need a parental cosigner if you’re not 18 yet?

I’m probably not the most informed person about financial aid, as I haven’t applied for it. I’m just repeating what I’ve read around the forum.

Would you really want to have 50k loans a year though?

I would be fine with 100k debt if my GPA is 3.75. I know you don’t take the debt conditionally pending good grades, I’m just saying that’s what it would take for me to be satisfied.

finally submitted my app! xD and now i wait…

I don’t get what you mean when you say you would be fine with debt as long as you had a 3.75… Why?

@smrsmr They will look at the second letter as well as the primary letter and evaluation form. The evaluation is expected along with the other forms from the common app, but they are much more lenient when it comes to those forms. I submitted all of them, except for the school report. Although only one letter is required, they encourage you to send more if you feel it would help your application.

having viewed application right after submission and find that i forgot to capitalize a word in the titile of common app essay!!! it is too frustrating!!! anyone who has not submitted his application better check again just in case.

Time is up. All our competitors have submitted their apps. The wait begins… NOW!

@artis2011 I would be ok with the debt if I got a 3.75 GPA or higher because I would like to go to law school and I would think with those grades I would have a shot (with good LSAT of course). I doubt I would go to such an expensive school as NYU if I didn’t think it was nearly necessary in order to get into a top 14 law school, especially since I’m from NY.

Also, I didnt put a title on my common app essay, should I just give up hope now?

@Tomeu11 I love your post, it is so true. I hadn’t even thought about it until just now. Life changing stuff here.

I unfortunately submitted the app about 60 seconds too late… It’s because I didn’t realize that I hadn’t submitted the app itself, but only the supplement and payment. Oh well, I’ve heard that colleges don’t actually mind. They usually download all the apps the next morning, from what I know.

@Undracheevr88 thanks man! your note on the common app essay title wasn’t bad either haha

Unfortunately it’s true. Did all of you put a title on your common app essay?
