***Official Princeton University Class of 2022 RD Applicant Thread***

Hey guys! I applied rd to Princeton but I don’t think I have a shot cuz my gpa suck lol

I mentioned Richard Feynman’s book Surely you must be joking Mr. Feynman which is one of my all time favorites. I reasoned that it had a perfect blend of quirky humor and anecdotes presented in a very humble manner. That was the only one that popped in my mind. Its kind of a conundrum because I wrote a different book, also a favorite of mine in the Princeton short answers. It’s called A certain ambiguity and has an Indian born mathematician going to Stanford for his studies where he finds there’s nothing ever certain - in Mathematics or in life. Its a novel genre called Mathematical fiction. I wonder if saying different books would be considered bad, but hope they’re bit open about it.

@DDHH2017 Dude same! How bad is yours? I think mine might be worse.

@ram2621 That book is on my to-read list! If you haven’t already, I suggest you read “How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming” by Mike Brown. It’s my favorite book and is the one I put on my Princeton application.

@tt8082 you just gotta accept it man

@frazzledazzle by Princeton standards it’s like a 3.7 something. But I have a 1510 on my SAT my school is insanely rigorous

@DDHH2017 Oh. My stats are a lot lower than yours. Not mentioning my GPA since it’s actually really bad, but I have a 1380 SAT and a 31 ACT. My school is the hardest in my area and one of the hardest in Maine.

@frazzledazzle looks awesome. I’ll get to it once my finals finish :’(

@ram2621 I don’t blame you! Senior year is crazy in general rn for me.

@frazzledazzle trust me I know what you mean! You honestly never know crazy stuff happens! And also yeah I hope colleges understand that some schools are harder than others cuz no one in my graduating class of 400 has a 4.0 UW

I put “Americanah” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

@frazzledazzle Believe me it’s crazier out here. They say you barely get 5 hours of sleep in college. I barely get 5 hours of sleep now :frowning:

@ram2621 people who graduated from my hs have said that college is a lot easier. This is coming from people who are at top institutions. It could be that my hs is just really rigorous or something.

@ram2621 It’s unusual for me to go to bed before 12:30 am. Usually wake up around 6:45 am or procrastinate and wake up at 7.

@DDHH2017 There are people in my grades with 4.0s. I don’t have one. I’m 50th in a class of 270-something, which isn’t great but my grade is one of the strongest academically in years. I hope things work out, but I have no idea. I went to SSP last summer and had an amazing interview (he said he’d write me the best response he could) so hopefully things end up okay but I know and have accepted that the odds are stacked against me.

I’m really confused at the “my GPA is worse than yours” argument in this thread.

“How bad is yours? I think mine might be worse”

That’s literally the stuff people joke about. Y’all need to chill and remember that GPA isn’t everything. We don’t need to have contests over who has the lowest GPA…

@memememe00 That’s very true, but sometimes people still make mountains out of molehills. GPA isn’t everything, but it still matters a lot in admissions and can make or break an application.

@ram2621 Some of these interviewers actually have a sense of humor and appreciate honesty. I also think your answer makes you seem like a real person rather than fact filled robot.

@frazzledazzle Well I hipe everything works put for you! Were in this together!

@frazzledazzle it’s not just that you’re making mountains of molehills. It’s the general attitude of “omg my life is so much harder than yours”

Pls stop

In other news, I just arranged with my interviewer today for a meeting… on February 25th. I wonder how much weight these interviews can truly hold if they’re this late in the game!

@writergirl0316 me too. I have my interview this Sunday. Don’t know how this will affect my application though…
