Official SAT Subject Test - Math Level 2 - June 2015

Which Dr. Chung’s test are you referring to? There are possibility just keep practicing since John Chung got 12 for you. @Yakisoba

Anyone found Test 3 in Barron’s easy?
Got 760!

@guy6127 Yup. The 3rd test is really easier. I only got, like, 2 wrong and 1 missed. The 6th one, on the other hand…

@guy6127 @synonyms
Yeah I got a 800 on the third test too.
Is the 6th one hard?
btw do we need to know the angle between two lines?

What does a 740/750 on Barron’s usually translate to in the real test? (11th edition Barron’s btw)

is a 740 and 750 on Barron’s 11th edition practice tests a good score for math 2? How much of a boost is Barron’s really?

@newCCuser12345 740~750 is a REALLY good score for barron’s. Some people at CC said you can add 100~150 points to your barron’s score.
so I think that you should easily get a 800. People say Barron’s is MUCH harder than the real thing.
I’m getting about 780-800 on all of my barron’s. imo, barron’s isn’t that hard if you go through chung’s book and have a ti89 lol

@sdw8253 I plan on taking the Math II Subject test around November or October, I took Algebra II in my Junior Year but it’s been a long time, almost 2 years and I can’t remember anything. Should I study from Barron’s? Is the ti-89 worth it?

Sorry if I’m redirecting the thread this question might help others and I can’t post :frowning:

@Hamlin
imo, the ti-89 is worth it.
I haven’t taken the real test yet (in 2 days i will) but I think you should study from the Barron’s. Barron’s is really good book to review with.
And also, get John Chung’s SAT Math Level 2. His 57 tips are extremely useful, and his practice tests make the barron’s test(which is supposedly MUCH harder than the real thing) really easy.

Ti-89 has a solve function that solves ALL equations( okay, maybe not all but all you need in the SAT math 2) and this saves a lot of time for me. And sometimes i dont even know how to solve some of the equations… The calculator just does it for me XD
It also factors,expands, finds limits, etc etc.

I’ll give you one typical problem I use ti 89 for and you decide if you need ti89 or not:

                       For all x, tan(x) + cos(x) + tan(-x) + cos(-x) = ?

for these kind of problems, you would need to use trig identities to solve it. But if you have a ti-89 or any kind of CAS calculator, you can just plug this in to the calculator and get the answer.
= 2 cos(x)
Another problem: if 7^(x-1) =6^(x), find x.
I just use solve function on the ti 89
solve( 7^(x-1) =6^(x),x)
and the calculator just spits out the answer: 12.6234

You would do ln functions and all to solve that problem but with the ti89 just plug and chug.

You decide; do you think these functions will help you a lot on the test?.
Do you already have a graphing calculator? If you don’t, it’s really worth the 30 dollars more than the 84 imo.

If I were to rate the tests on a 1-10 scale of difficulty:
Collegeboard: 2 or 3
Barron’s: 7 or 8
Chung’s: 11

should I get ti-89 or ti89 titanium?

I got 770 on Barron’s 5th test and a 690 on Barron’s 6th one. I have already gone through all of the tests of PR and Barron’s, but I haven’t done most of topics in the front. I have barely touched McGraw-Hill and Chung’s. I am planning to finish all of Chung’s tips tonight, but not take any of his tests- I have taken two and they are littered with mistakes. I took a practice test from McGraw-Hill and scored an 800. I don’t have school tomorrow, so I should be reviewing like crazy. Is there anything else that I should do other go over my struggle areas?

@4beardolls Here there’s a thread for you.

Lol I just got a 570 on Chung’s

@Yakisoba :frowning: Keep practicing!

I got a raw score of a 40 on the Barron’s 11th edition Practice Test 1. I believe that this is a 750 (correct me if im wrong). I was just wondering if this puts me at a chance of an 800 for the real test? Also, how long does it take to go over Dr. Chung’s 57 tips (I only have on more day)? Does anyone have any good video/page links for full tinspire cx graphing tutorials? Thank you guys so much!

Are there any practice test I can get online? I finished all 6 in Barron’s and I have one left in the official guide that I am saving for tomorrow.

I also did both in PR already.

That score is actually a 760. Chung’s tips depend on the person. Maybe you could finish in an hour and half or it might take you more than two hours. If it starts taking too long, then just go over the ones you really might need.

At this point, I’m just reviewing and memorizing formulas. It’s a bit to late to learn any heavy material…
