We were told not to bother with extraneous info. Think of it from their perspective - they have a lot of info to get through and process.

They know you are interested in Stanford first choice since you applied SCEA.

Got a likely from Vandy! Yay, made the wait less excruciating.

We’ve made it over two months since REA decisions! I hope all is going well with everyone. Can’t wait till the last Friday in March <3

Okay, I need some advice. I have not yet submitted an Optional Update Form (procrastination ftw), but I have received likely letters from both Yale and Harvard (yay!). Should I mention this on the form? I was thinking something along the lines of “Although I have already received offers from other highly competitive schools, Stanford remains my number one choice.” Is that too vague? I don’t want to name drop, but these Ivies are in a cat fight over me.

@clairebear29. It is hard to judge.

on the one hand:
Since you applied SCEA Stanford knows that you are interested in them.
They also say that demonstrated interest really doesn’t matter to them.

Secondly, since you were deferred, Stanford knows you are a highly qualified applicant and they certainly would expect that you would get likelies and offers from other top schools.

Seems the updates are updates on why they should accept you - awards, activities, something new about you.

on the other hand:
I expect yield matters to them so knowing that you would accept an offer vs. an Ivy would matter to them.

on the other hand: (yes, 3 hands).
Sometimes it comes down to the financial aid, so even saying you like Stanford the best, if there is a big enough difference in finaid, someone may go somewhere else.

on the other hand: (okay, 4 hands)
If you are full pay, then the last point doesn’t matter.

Congrats on the likelies, I am sure you will have more options in a month from now.

S held his update to a concise list, as he felt empathy for the folks who have to read thick piles of aps, so hopefully that will work out for him.

I’m sure you are all eager for this month to end so you have all of your choices in front of you. Fingers crossed for all of you!!

Quick question – did you get any confirmation that your update form was received?

I sent my update form around mid-February, and I haven’t received confirmation.

I sent in an update for RD and haven’t received any confirmation either.

Same here. Since it’s a web form, I wouldn’t worry.

Same here. Since it was a web form, I wouldn’t worry.

Whew – thanks all for making us feel better about the sudden realization that S had gotten no confirmation of his update.

Is anyone else anticipating some decisions before Stanford’s? D was admitted to her top school binding EA and withdrew all other aps, so this waiting is all new to us. I’m not loving it. ;)

Just wanted to wish you all luck! Don’t stress too much, there isn’t much you can do now. I’m sure everything will turn out wonderfully for all of you. (:

FlyingCrepes, thanks! I just can’t wait to see where I’ll end up. Hopefully Stanford, but if not, I know I’ll love wherever I go.

MomCares, Stanford will be the last of my colleges to get back to me. Sigh. Saving the best for last.

Well said, Aery. We will all be happy wherever we are next year.

Is Stanford supposed to come out before the 28th?

^I haven’t heard anything of the sort.

Not like I really know, but it seems like they’ll most likely release decisions on Friday, the 29th.

Every day we get one day closer…it’s been almost five months since when I applied on October 15th! (arts supp)

I love you, Stanford

Just got a 22K per year scholarship to Tulane! Finally something to fall back on… Where have you guys heard from?

@iman123194 - Congratulations!! Doesn’t it feel great to know you already have strong options for next year?!! S has nice choices in a highly selective sub-program at our strong state flagship, plus some great options overseas.

Does anyone know how/when Deferred student applications are reassessed?

I wonder if they select a final pool from the RD applicants and then compare them to the Deferred aps.

Or do they assign each application a numeric score and the top X scores are the “winners”? If so, do they give the Deferred applications a new score after the updates are reviewed? Does a new reviewer read Deferred applications again for RD, or does the original reader review the same aps?

In any case, I wonder if the process happens regionally or for the entire school at once.

Geez - sounds like maybe I need to get a job in an Admissions department some day. ;)

Gosh MomCares, I sure wish I had answers to those questions!

Iman, congrats man! I still haven’t heard back from Tulane yet did you receive and email with your acceptance or…?

I got into Vanderbilt, UT Austin Honors, and my middle tier private school backup with a full ride. Lucky to have options. I feel like such a brat for whining about Stanford!
