Hi!
I had been corresponding with my admission counselor during the end of my senior year of high school. It’s a balancing act but when ever I would have something significant to report, like Deans list, Honors college invite, class schedule to update app, etc. I would email. I rarely called but did get a return call once and always received an email back after one sent. I also introduced my self to my transfer counselor as well. Showing respectful interest is a good thing. Just don’t send too much to be a bother.
I wish you the best of luck!

Anyone else get a decision?

@mjr2013 I think you would have a very good chance, just make sure the essays are stellar. If you can give the ACT again. Good luck.

@Dawnseeker11 thank you! Do you mean take the ACT again, or give because of how many credits I’m at? Thanks again!

@mjr2013 I meant take the ACT again

Anyone else heard back from Michigan yet?

I got in today!!! SOOOOOOO excited to say that I will be a Wolverine in the winter!
My record:
Applied in high school and was deferred and then rejected.
3.8 GPA and 27 on the ACT, captain of a sport and president of 6 clubs as well as class board. I was also taking a lot of honor and AP classes.
Applied freshmen year of college for Fall 2015 and was rejected.
4.0 GPA and 2 letters of recommendation.
Applied early September for this upcoming Winter Semester and WAS ACCEPTED !!!
I’ll be going in with a 4.0 GPA from a private university and 45 credits.

It’s been a long and stressful journey, but I am so very glad to say it paid off. If anyone would like to hear any tips I have lots of wisdom to hand out. Don’t give up. No matter what do not give up. If Michigan is your dream then you can reach it. Good luck to all of you!! Hope we can all go into this semester together!

Parents both wolverines
HS GPA: 3.7-3.8
ACT: 30

College GPA: 3.5

Will be applying after my first year so I won’t have all the prereqs done

Chances of applying after first semester?

So I’m an older non-traditional student. When I first entered college I had somewhere between a 1.0-1.5 gpa after attempting 80-90 credits. I took a few years off and lived abroad as well as managed a business. I returned to school after my break and have a 3.78 gpa after 40 credits in an honors program at a community college. I have around 100 credits now, and I understand that Michigan will accept a max of 60.

I have applied for winter 2016, but am extremely nervous that my initial academic struggles are too much for my recent success to overcome. How much does upward trend factor into their decision? Am I screwed?

@oct2015yay I would think that they would definitely evaluate your latest grades/credits b/c it is the most recent. I think the early gpa hurts obviously but taking time off and managing a business makes you unique and it stands out which would work to your favor. What school are you applying to ? LSA?

anyone applying to Kinesiology? and for those did anyone hear back yet?

@walter03 I applied to LSA. I submitted my app through commonapp in August and according to wolverine access my materials were uploaded on 9/18. But nothing is marked as complete yet.

@oct2015yay you should give them a call to see if your application is complete. Anyone else hear back yet?

Don’t harass them, but I strongly strongly encourage you all to call them a few times a week until they can tell you your application material has been “processed and marked complete”. Its very important you say it like that. If the lady on the phone tells you to check WolverineAccess just politely explain that you see that UM had received your material and you don’t have anything left to turn in, but you want to confirm that your application is marked COMPLETE. It won’t get put in the reading pile until it’s marked complete.

Guys…I can’t stress this enough. Last time I applied I was really hesitant to blow up their phone because I didn’t want to come across annoying. It took a little over 2 months to mark it complete. There were people already receiving decisions and my application wasn’t even ready to be read yet! This time around I called 3 times a week until I got the OK that it was marked complete. I got in less than a week later.

@walter03 I applied to the school of kinesiology on 9/2 and have not heard back yet! Let me know if you do

@hail2018 i applied on 9/30 and havent heard back obviously. I emailed the transfer counselor and she said that Kinesiology is not rolling and everyone gets evaluated at the same time and then said everyone will hear back on Nov 15 or before

@mganxx do you think calling them makes them take more notice about you or just the fact that they may look to your application and review it faster?

Just called the AO and the lady said my materials are marked completed. I will probably call again whithin this week just to make sure. in addition to that, I didn’t know that they still keep the letter of recommendation from last time I applied, so guess I have 2 letters now:)

Since U of M is my dream school and I am starting my junior year of college as a pre-med student, I decided it is finally time to apply! I am applying to LSA. I went to Macomb community college for my first two years where I took basic classes and was able to fulfill the Michigan transfer agreement and end up with a 3.9 gpa. I started at Oakland University in the summer of 2015 and took gen chem 1 and lab and I am taking a few science pre-req courses there now (fall 15’ - 15 credits worth). So far I have a 4.0 gpa at oakland. I am sending 46 credits and will have 60 credits by the end of this current semester. I’ve worked at a surgery center as a nursing assistant getting patient contact hours for over a year now and have been volunteering at a hospital as well. I’ve never been in any kinds of clubs or anything through school though which I know may hurt my chances of getting accepted. I also did not send a letter of rec with my application… I have been waiting on one of my professors to send one but not sure if it was sent or not… anybody have an idea on my chances of getting in? Any help would be great, Thanks!
