Official TRANSFER Stats Thread*

question as a gt will i have to fill out the application again, my dean told me i don't

You don't have to apply again...they do get reports of your progress though...

Hi all,
I'm applying to Cornell's College of Engineering. I go to University of Arizona (top 100 in the field of engineering I think) and have completed some tough courses. Here are my stats:

*applying for: Engineering physics major
*current gpa: 3.800
*letter of recs: solid. i sent 4 in total...
*EC's: excellent (intellectual ec, holding a world record and have participated in world tournaments).
*letters: overall, good -I spent a LONG time on them, but I'm more of an engineer than a writer ;). an english major told me they were "better than average..."
*high school gpa: 4.0+ weighted (unranked high school, but a very selective high school)
*SATs: 720 math, 720 math iic, the rest are significantly lower... hopefully they won't look at my SATs as much since I'm a transfer applicant.

So, is anyone kind enough to tell me my chances? Thanks
btw, this forum is really cool.

if you dont have to take math dont...if its your weakest subject dont take it if you're a GT....#1 listen i have learned.....even though it was pretty much required for me as an economics major...i should have just tried to get out of it...really...just take the required courses...and get out of everything you think you will do poorly in that is not required...i messed up majorly....dont do what i did...if i get in come monday then thats a different story...but i really dont think i will...i had my ticket to cornell ready..and i messed up...you do not realize how depressed i am..dont mess it up like i did.

Alright...less than a day...ILR decisions tmr~
All ILR ppls tmr post results IF you want~

Those are good stats, what is the record that you hold?

Thanks for the advice roots, I'm really rooting for you! GL!

Good luck to all of you who are finding out tommorow!!!

what makes you a gt?

I Got In!!!! Yessss I Callled Today!!! Yay!

wow this waiting game is driving me crazy...im starting to think they are just telling me this so they dont have to give me bad news over the phone and they already sent a letter.....who knows.

I just called this morning and was told that I got in. I was a GT for the Fall of '06 but I wasn't sure if I was going to get in because I didn't meet the 3.3 GPA requirement first semester. The guy said it still would be a week or two before I got something in the mail though because they still had to do some sort of processing with all the apps. Either way, I'm glad and relieved.

@glavin742: first, that is AWESOME. Congrats. Second, is your web status updated? It may need to update overnight, if it does, can you reply and let us know?

@theroots: this may be a good sign... if glavin didn't meet the 3.3 req, then you might not be in bad shape (as you think).

my web status still doesn't say anything but I don't think they update until late afternoon EST so it should update either tonight or tomorrow. in terms of housing, does anyone have experience with whether or not it's worth it to live in the transfer center?

Any non-gts in CAS hear back yet? If I don't find out tonight I think I'm going to go crazy.

glavin: that is the exact same situation I was/am in...but when i called they said they haven't had time to review all the applications and they had not gotten to mine as if yet...

roots: so wait, when i called the guy (Ian) told me my app. was approved for transfer in the fall and I'd get my info in a few weeks. what is your situation exactly? regular transfer or GT? and the impression I got was that they had finished all the applications this past friday and you could call now to find out. I'm in the ILR school so maybe if you applied to a different one they haven't finished the apps yet?

glavin: here is my story, much like you I am (or was) an ILR GT for fall '06 and i did not meet the 3.3 my fall quarter, however I did meet it my winter quarter...i currently have a cum gpa of 3.23 just shy of the required 3.3. I spoke with Ian this morning and what he told me is that they had not finished all the applications as there are a few they have not gotten to and that they will be finished by the end of the week and to call back then. The impression I got is that they probably have in fact finished all the applications and probably did not want to give me a rejection over the phone therefore when saying I should call back by the end of the week he is meaning that I will most likely get a rejection letter in the mail by the end of the week...Who knows maybe I am just being paranoid...But this is getting really stressful when I thought I would hear back on Friday, then being told Monday is the day, and now being told maybe by the end of this week...Hopefully this ends well and I'll see you all over in Ithaca come August.

roots: I think they really haven't gotten to your app yet. As cold as it may be to reject someone on the phone, they were saying you could call and get your decision, be it acceptance or rejection. I think that if they knew you werent in as of now Ian would've told you. I say try calling back later in the week and be hopeful. good luck man

yeah, the rational part of me definitely agrees with you...but my paranoid side is being just that, paranoid...hopefully by Friday a decision will be ready.

Congrats Too All! Gl Roots, Still Pulling For U!
