Figured you would be offered that with your stats, Walrus. Congrats.

BTW, a few people have used the term “Honors College”, when in reality it is an Honors Program. There is a real difference. There is only one undergraduate college at Tulane, Newcomb-Tulane College, which contains the various schools that run all the majors. So you are not separated from your classmates by being in a different college, as you are at most state schools that have Honors Colleges. Probably doesn’t really matter to you, but wanted to be sure anyone reading this does understand the difference.

Fallenchemist, I got my acceptance on Gibson today! You seem to be the Tulane guru, as far as acceptances go, I am just accepted as an undergraduate into Tulane right? They don’t have certain school acceptances… for example like acceptance into Natural Science or Engineering?

So excited! Tulane was the first school I ever looked at, and its the first one I’ve been accepted to…I just have to compare the money I get with my other offers

treehugga - Congrats. See, nothing to worry about. BTW, only in the rarefied air of CC and HYP is a 3.8 GPA a weakness, lol. Same with your course load of 7 AP courses and probably honors courses besides. You have a strong record and should be trying for the DHS.

I was also looking at your other post where you say your 3.8 (95) is weighted. But then you say you have all A’s except for one B and one B+, I think it was. Are you sure that is weighted? I would think with all those A’s that would be unweighted, but of course I don’t know how your school does it.

Weaknesses: My application was strong. No weaknesses that I am aware of.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I’m above the schools profile and I am a legacy.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: accepted to University of Vermont.

fallenchemist: lolz…im very confused with my GPA. We go on a 100 point scale, and its a weighted 95, so I approximated that to a 3.8…out school’s grading/weighting is very sketchy though.

Well let me ask you this, because I am not so familiar with that system. Does that mean they add points for AP and Honors classes? Is it like if you actually scored an 87 in an AP class they put it down like a 97? Or if you get a 94 they put it down as a 104? Something similar for honors? Or is 100 the highest you can actually get?

105 is the theoretically the highest, but the highest in the grade is a 97 or 98 I think. They add 5 points for AP, 3 for Honors, but if your grade goes above a 100 weighted they just put it as a 100.

I received an email from Tulane on October 30th signifying that my application was complete. Gibson STILL says that the Admissions Committee is working on their decision. Is it just me or is this suspicious…

Suspicious? That’s an odd word to use. Again, if you are pretty sure you have the stats to get in, then email your adcom and check if there is a problem.

For all those who are worried they haven’t anything don’t stress too much! I applied in early October and just found out this afternoon and a few people from my school had weeks before I did. I think it’s honestly just random unless you are on the border.

For those of you who are still stressing about how long it’s been since you applied, “Our office is currently about 2-3 weeks behind in processing most documents. If you’re worried that something is lost, call us,” says the Tulane Admissions twitter page, along with “We have thousands of files still waiting to be read, and even more that are still incomplete. There will be plenty more acceptances to come! We read applications in NO particular order. If you haven’t heard from us, don’t panic! We just haven’t gotten to your file yet!”

i loved the school when i visited. i’m thrilled i was accepted. However, i received no information in my letter regarding the scholarship or honors program. I, of course, know that every application has it’s own strengths and weaknesses, but i was a bit taken back that i received nothing- i am mostly as qualified as my friends are, and they received a lot of aid.

i am sending an email to my admissions counselor to please look over my application once more for any sort of scholarship or to be admitted into the honors program… what are the chances that it is a mistake or repealing the decision will work in my favor? i’m not trying to be pretentious at all. i’m sorry to come off that way. i do appreciate the acceptance. i’m just a bit lost/discouraged and i’m looking for some guidance…
