Official UC Berkeley Haas Transfer Thread 2017

Has anyone heard from UCB yet? I hear

For all students that received the interview and ones that are new to thread, do you mind posting stats?

@Rosedarling123
@zsshar
@mapd9899
@GoHaasOrGoHome
@okokokokok123
@haascatbear

@enpz45 Did you get one? If you do, reach out to me. If you didn’t, I wouldn’t get into the mindset that it means they’ve written you off.

@briank82 Nope, nothing for an interview, did you have one last year? I’m not really worried about it because from last years thread it seemed like a lot of the vets and other applicants didn’t get one

@enpz45 I posted my stats on page 4! @briank82 any tips for the interview?

@mapd9899 I don’t know how I missed that.

@enpz45 Nope, no interview for me. I know a few other veterans last year who didn’t have one and one who did.

@mapd9899 Nothing too specific. There’ll likely be a lot of similarities between this and the type of interview you’d have for a job or internship, so do some research on that type of interview to prepare yourself.

This is a Haas transfer thread. The applicants that received interviews here were specifically asked for interviews from the Haas school at Berkeley. You might want to check on the UCB transfer thread about questions regarding interviews for statistics majors. I think I saw someone who got an interview request somewhere last week.

I’m glad this thread is finally gaining some coverage!

I’m not really too into this whole “chancing” thing. Everyone on here seems to be fairly competitive for Haas.
Nonetheless,

GPA: 4.00
Summer 2016 Intern @ accounting firm, bookkeeper for small biz last two years, math tutor @ CC, econ club, honors program finished, PTK, etc
Also applied to UCLA for biz econ and USC marshall, which I’m assuming a lot of you guys did as well. Praying for Haas so I don’t need to pay 70k/yr for USC

@briank82 I know you just transferred to Haas last year, I’d be curious to know, are relatively few of the transfer students international students? Last time I spoke to a Haas advisor they told me only about 15 of the 100 spots are allowed for international students studying here on a visa and coming from CC. That’s what I figured the interviews were for since obviously these 15 spots are much more competitive then the already massively competitive 100 or so spots.

@GoHaasOrGoHome not a chancing thing…a compare yourself to other applicants in the pool thing

@enpz45 Yeah for sure makes sense. “Only” 36 more days…I’m curious to see how many of us on this thread get in, it seems like in last years thread most got in, surprisingly.

@GoHaasOrGoHome It’s hard to tell who is and isn’t international. Some are easy to tell but some aren’t. From what I see, 15 is way way way too low.

Admissions cares first and foremost for California community college students. Beyond that, I don’t think it matters too much between in-state and international … but I might be wrong.

@GoHaasOrGoHome I agree…it would be great if most of us got in like last years thread but who knows. 36 days sucks but at least tomorrow its 35 days. USC is crazy for having people wait until June to release a decision. I applied there but don’t have any real interest in going. I’d go to UCSB before USC even though USC has a better business school

@briank82 Thats what i thought, she seemed fairly certain though. I was excited cause that meant better odds for me hehe. On the haas website it does say priority goes US citizens, residents, and CC students. Not sure how citizen and resident weigh though, according to her a lot but who knows. I do appreciate you lurking around here to help other transfers out–much appreciated.

@enpz45 Exactly!! If USC seriously takes until June that would be unfortunate because i know for the UC’s the deposit and SIR has to be done by 6/1. UCSB is a great school, im just already way too close to that already…i need to get out of here haha

Are most of interview requests to international students?

@GoHaasOrGoHome I’m in socal so UCSB is close but not too close

@Ohm888 The students that were asked for an interview here were not international students
