I am pretty sure its May 7th. It’s every second Monday of May. They will send us an e-mail.

Did anyone who requested an interview through the UChicago account actually get an interview?

TOMORROW, EVERYONE (probably)!

I am unbelievably nervous right now! Good luck to everyone.
@booksrule9, I got an interview, but only because I made friends with an admissions counselor. I had to call admissions to get one, though. She ended up contacting an alumnus within an hour after I called, and the alumnus emailed me the day after.
I don’t think that interviews are that important of a factor in an applicant’s decision, though, so I wouldn’t worry.

Good luck to everyone.

guys, once you find out, post your stats please!

GL everyone so unbelievably nervous. i’m so glad for cc…to have a community where i can commiserate with others.

Isn’t today the first Monday, technically? The second Monday is the 14th, no?

I wish admissions would let us know what day our decisions are being released…the uncertainty is figuratively killing me!
Also, the anxiety associated with compulsively checking my email address every half hour is kind of distracting me from studying for finals! :P

According to last year’s thread, applicants received their decisions at 2:21 PST/ 5:21 EST.

Per the threads: Last year, applicants found out via email on Monday, 9 May. In 2010, decisions were posted to UChicago accounts on Thursday, 6 May with snail mail to follow. For 2009, they were available on Thursday, 7 May with email notification directing applicants towards their accounts. In 2008 they came out on Friday, 16 May. Apparently, there was some ED/RD way of doing things before 2009 or so.

Point: Only the admissions office really knows when decisions will be released.

anyone wanna try calling them? i can’t because i’m in class rightn ow.

42 minutes until they close…hope we get our decisions!

I called Uchicago, and they told me that we won’t get decisions today. She said we will find out within the next two weeks, and that once they had a date they would post it on their website. Soooo that’s a bummer.

:(

feelsbadman.jpg

In the next two weeks? That is by no means the beginning of May…
-sigh-
At least it’s good to know that I should stop checking my email…ugh. I’d just like to find out before I go home.

Hmmm, I wonder why it’s taking so long this year…there must have been a lot of qualified transfer applicants, making the decisions really tough?
To pass time until we receive our decisions, I have a question for everyone: who is your favorite UChicago professor and why?
My favorite professor is Martha Nussbaum. Aside from the fact that she has published dozens of books on a wide range of topics from political philosophy to disgust as a moral emotion, she is one of those rare people who is using so much of her intellect to help other people. She is an avid humanitarian: she has written books about gender equality in India, gay rights, feminism, and a whole plethora of essays on global equality.
In addition to all this, she had a strong theatre background just like me, but ultimately ended up pursuing a more scholarly life path, just like I hope to do.

a) Two weeks?! I require smelling salts.
b) @creativedrafts John Mearsheimer. Forever and ever and ever. Have you ever read his work? Clear, concise, enumerated heaven. Sigh.

doesn’t look like too good of a year for transfers. apparently they’ve overenrolled the freshman class because yield was much higher than expected. :/

@Roboticsfre4k Wow, that really sucks. How do you know? Did you call them?

of course this is all conjecture, so i don’t want to freak anyone out, but yeah, it doesn’t look too great?

unless uchicago does things differently from other transfer colleges. 'cause i know as one example, that stanford’s transfer rate is dependent on enrollment of freshman class. perhaps chicago is different?
