did anyone else stop receiving advertisements from uchicago?

I basically did.

Don’t look too much into it -_-

aaaaaah. yeah. same here. AAH. i think it’s just the nerves. EVERY LITTLE THING makes me nervous.

Does anyone know when decisions actually come out? I’ve heard tomorrow or Tuesday!

^ beems94 its on Tuesday

https://blogs.uchicago.edu/collegeadmissions/2012/12/early_action_decision_release.html

Really nervous over here! Expecting a deferral and praying for an acceptance!

I think a rejection would be heartbreaking for me. I already got rejected from my top choice(didn’t get even deferred). All my friends are already getting back their acceptances to other schools and I am the only one who doesn’t have any school under my belt yet. IT’s killing me.

Drac: that’s exactly my life. I got rejected from Columbia, and my best friend got in; 6 kids got into UPenn, 3 got into Cornell, 3 at Duke, and 1 at Brown…

Hey guys,
I’ve been following this thread for a while now lolz, but was too lazy to create an account.
Anyway, on the UChicago website, it says admissions will closed after noon on Dec. 18. But aren’t we supposed to get results late afternoon?
Also, if I’m the only EA applicant from my school, does that give me any better chance? Someone was telling me it does but I didn’t really believe it.

I think closed means you can’t walk in the front door then. I am sure they aren’t going home without letting you guys know. Just don’t crash the server… :)

It can help you or hurt you finnagandhi. It depends on whether Chicago knows of your school or not. If they are familiar with your grading systems, etc. and you are strong academically and whatever, it could help. However, if few people ever apply and they aren’t familiar with your school, having no comparison can also be a bad thing. They may not know if you are a good student or a ad student, you know what I mean?

Yeah I understand. Our school actually just went through a change in grading: “Standards Based Grading and Equal Interval Grading.” Now everything is worth 4 points in the grade book (tests and homework), but teachers can weight tests higher than homework.
Oh well, no real point in worrying because it won’t change the decision haha.

Yeah, I’m sure decisions are all made by now. Perhaps they’re still doing final touches but should be about done.

It’s not too far away ladies and gentlemen :).

Deferred from MIT - even more anxious about UChicago now, my other dream school :P

How many of the 10,000 EA applicants are going to be accepted most likely?

Also I keep having dreams of being deferred here, I’m scared…

I think they’ll probably accept around the same amount: 1400-1600?

I stopped recieving emails from UChicago (minus a couple from Aid). And mail, too. It’s a shame, I wanted a pennant. But apparently if you’re accepted, you get a scarf. I’ll ask for a pennant, too, if I get in haha.

But really though, are we making a new Results thread?

twarren, I think we should, so that looking for results is easier for future applicants
