Hello everyone, are any of your applications on ConnectCarolina still read as “Thank you for submitting your application” under status? I know some people have theirs “under review.” With the admissions release being so close, should I be concerned?

@IchHeiseBilhelm Absolutely, there’s no harm in calling to double check.

Hi @UNC2017, since I submitted my application in February, it has consistently read as “Thank you for submitting your application. Your decision is not yet available.”

An admissions director told me that recommendation letters do not have an impact on our decisions. Also, my app status is also “Thank you for submitting your application. Your decision is not yet available.”

Yeah for transfer students rec letters really do not affect application at all, they said this in november when I visited

@Otemachi I think it’s mostly a numbers game at UNC.

@justblewit I honestly don’t know… also today marks the beginning of Mid-April, guys~

Does anyone mind telling me how do find out if your recommendations were downloaded? I just checked Commonapp and all I can see is when they were assigned and when there were submitted by my professor/dean…

@UNCTransfer2014 Click on “Assign Recommenders” in the MyColleges Tab, and in the Academic Evaluator section, it indicates the date you assigned your prof as your recommender i.e. “Assigned 12/13/13”. Right under this it either says “downloaded mm/dd/yy”, if UNC has downloaded your recommendations, or “submitted mm/dd/yy”, which means your prof submitted the rec but UNC forgot to download it. I randomly checked the status a week ago and saw that my recs were submitted instead of downloaded, and I called and was told that they forgot to download them. WOW I was in shock that time.

If you all can see is the date your professor submitted the rec, I really doubt if UNC has it on file for you.

that really makes me scared since the decision date is so soon… like they didn’t even bother to check? my recs were something i definitely thought would add on to my application, and i’m freaking out the if they don’t have it i’m ■■■■■■

also, as a sophomore applicant i feel like they would mean something for me, and the fact that they don’t even have it and probs made a decision really annoys me

sry, I meant "all you can see~"yea I know it sucks I was really frustrated.

Like others have said, recommendations don’t affect their decision.

Finally got my problem resolved, hope it wasn’t too late!

@justblewit Would you recommend calling up UNC and asking them if they received the recommendation letters?

@UNCTransfer2014 Yeah, they’re there to help. Although, in the event they haven’t received the letters, I don’t know if there’s much you can do at this point in time. I think it would still be worthwhile to call, just for peace of mind.

@justblewit What was the problem that you got resolved? Sorry I thought you meant the letters!

@UNCTransfer2014 I think it was the SAT requirement.

Any new guesses on when decisions will be released? I’m expecting they will be released in waves.

imo 11th or 15th…
