Just got a call from my admissions counselor! I almost screamed for joy lol. I’m from NW Indiana, she said that the decision was made today and I will be receiving an official letter by saturday with my financial aid info. they are giving us 2 weeks to make a decision.

I was admitted today, as well! I could not believe it. I had nearly given up all hope, especially after being waitlisted at WashU, Notre Dame, and Northwestern.

I am not a sibling, and I am from the Show-Me State.

I’m not a sibling, nor a legacy, and I’m lower income. I also have mediocre test scores and live only an hour away from campus. I think what put me over the edge, however, was how much interest I expressed to them - I went on 2 official tours, with one of which I had a day host, I also kept in touch with my counselor over the course of my year, and have gone to mass at ND several times in the past few months.

I’m so grateful to be accepted! And now the challenge begins… :)

Do you think they’ll be making any calls after 10 pm!! Ugh! Long night ahead-praying for a bright new day tomorrow, full of hope and possibilities.

I’m hearing from a friend that the primary notification method for waitlisted people is by MAIL and only a fraction of those admitted from the waitlist will actually be called. If you were called, congratulations! If you are still waiting, don’t fret yet.

Son was called last night around 6:00pm Eastern Time in Western Pennsylvania. His local admission rep. left a voice mail on his phone while he was out on the field at baseball practice. When he came into the duggout with his team he saw the call and listened to the voicemail and called her back immediately.

The ensuing conversation in the duggout was a moment stolen from the movie RUDY. My middle son asked if it was Notre Dame calling and our son gave the thumbs up. The team listened as our son said “absolutely, thank you - it has been my dream”. After he hung up he said - guys I’m going to Notre Dame. When I arrived to practice twenty minutes later and the team was coming out of the duggout…the first one out was my son.

He said “Dad your son is going to Notre Dame”. I said Bulls**t…you guys are always messing with me (his team). His baseball team had gathered behind homeplate and I really thought based on all thier years together they were up to another prank.

My son said no… I got the call and Maureen ( his admission rep) said I was one of the candidates pulled off of the waiting list. I looked into his eyes and knew the tears were true. I hugged him like a bear and his team and coaches let out a roar of laughter and clapping and screams.

This is was Notre Dame is all about! Good luck to everyone still waiting!

For all of us that remain in the infamous “green room”, does anyone know the process? If the calls started yesterday will they continue today? Or maybe round 1 complete and additional calls if needed made next week? Noticed a thread stating some notifications are made by mail, can that be confirmed?

I don’t recall ever hearing that ND sends acceptances through the mail. Look at the waitlist from 2009… I believe that only one person received a call on the following day. I have assumed that was an anomaly … perhaps the “chosen” wasn’t reachable by phone the first day when all the others had been admitted. I am discouraged.

I’d suggest calling the admissions office. I believe they will tell you that both letters and phone calls are made. Not sure why? Keep the faith, it’s not over 'till its over!!
