Official University of Notre Dame Waitlist News Thread

i sure hope so, did it help your son get off the waitlist?
she sent me the letter she wrote i hope it will help:

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am privileged to recommend ***** ****** to Notre Dame University. I am a witness to *****’ ability to influence others positively, take charge and to achieve excellence in a challenging academic setting.

***** is a member of our brother household in the household program that we have here at ****. The household program works in a similar way to a homeroom in a high school. During one of our household activities, I watched take the leadership role to organize an entire classroom of mixed aged students and successfully implement a values based team role play activity of the entire group. He did not need to be coached or encouraged. He just did it. He had the respect of all of the students in the class including the other seniors. The session was successful as the students who followed his lead did their best. This was extremely impressive to me as many teachers would not have been able to do it as well.

***** works extremely hard in his classes and takes his education seriously. Recently he was asked to give a speech to incoming freshmen and their parents about the education that he received at our school and how he benefited from it. He expressed himself in a manner that caught the attention of potential students and parents and subsequently the enrollment of the freshman class for next year increased by ten percent. ***** is clearly a positive role model for the student body.

***** plans to study medicine in college. He is a student who will contribute to your university both in and outside of the classroom. I have absolute confidence in recommending him for admission.

Sincerely,

yes, letters of rec are extremely important at this point, as well as the APPLICANT (not his or her parents) showing strong interest.

applefrk 715— By “one was pulled off” do you mean she was offered admission? Today?

May I ask, do you attend a private school or a public school? Five from one school seems like a lot!

applefrk715…that letter is golden. Until Notre Dame officially announces the waitlist and admission process is over - keep em comin’ if you can.

eagle2010 totally agree - at this point it is about the student and the counselor and the effort being displayed to show the students passion for Notre Dame.

Good Luck and hang in there…it’s not over until ND admissions says it is!

GO IRISH

@applefrk715, I would recommend getting the name of the school right before sending anything to them. One of those little things that shows attention to detail.

would they really be bothered by notre dame university instead of university of notre dame?

i have definitely messed that up a few times.

It’s probably about the same as messing up a person’s name. Sort of undermines your case if you’re detailing how much you love ND and it’s your dream school, but haven’t bothered to get the name right.

I got admitted off the wait list! I am sooooo excited. I got a call yesterday and my package came today. I can now “live and breath Notre Dame” instead of “liveanddreamnd”…good luck everyone…my sincere best wishes…

i attend a private school with a graduating class of maybe 65 or so. yes 5 is the most we’ve ever had accepted and attending. well now 6. and yes by pulled off the waitlist i mean admitted and attending.

also the letter was written by a teacher of mine. Notre dame i assume will not judge me, nor my standing by a teacher’s almost insignificant mistake because it does not reflect on me like the substance of the letter does. so i am not worried about that mistake.

still waiting :/

I haven’t sent in anything yet just cuz I know I won’t be admitted and I didn’t want to get my hopes up.
Is it too late to send them a letter?

my friend got admitted off the waitlist about a week and a half ago so hopefully theres still hope! Go Irish!

Has anyone heard anything from ND this week? My guess is that if they go to the waitlist again, they’ll start notifying people Wed., or Thursday (last week it looked like some people found out on Wednesday). Fingers crossed! We’re still all in it until they say so. Good luck to everyone still waiting. It sucks, but it’s for a reason

Has anyone who was recently admitted off the waitlist received any additional information/mailings from ND? I sent in my reply card a week ago and haven’t heard anything from them.

About a week or 10 days later, I got the enrollment pack which has a few letters from campus offices, a health services form, and a pinkish sheet for your office to fill out with grades, etc.

anyone get anything yet? i’ve got nothing

Still nothing in NJ…hopefully admissions are getting ready take more off after seeing who replied by the may 26th deadline

Really, really quiet - could it be the end is here?

No word yet received from Notre Dame, but I can confirm that Boston College, a logical alternative choice for many hoping for ND has closed its waitlist for the freshman class. If ND does not come through, my daughter will go to Villanova. Where are the rest of you headed? Best of luck to all of you.

My niece just received a call yesterday-she is in off the waitlist!!! Admitted to Boston College and was planning to attend. Now this. She turned down Northwestern for BC, which surprised many although not me.

I got a call on Monday, about 3:00 and was admitted! I don’t know if they’re going to the waitlist again, but for everyone waiting there is still hope. It’s not over until it’s over. I know how difficult this is, so just keep praying.
