Hey y’all! Sorry to impose on this convo but I originally got cap and then appealed and was notified last week and got pace. Are any of y’all in the same boat as me? Where are y’all living? Are y’all going through recruitment?

@alexk37 Take the PACE offer! I have been attending ACC the last few semesters (transferring out in the Fall semester) and honestly ACC is a great community college. There is no reason to not accept the PACE program and take four classes at ACC and one class at UT while you clear out all your general ed courses. ACC has multiple campuses (one pretty close to UT, but a number of others within reasonable distance also) that you can take your classes at and even a lot of online classes (if you’re good with that, some people need the accountability of a lecture course). So easy to save a ton of money and still have guaranteed admission to UT for all your classes that really matter (i.e. degree applicable classes)!

Really congrats take pace take it

Plus you can live on campus in ut!!!

Thanks for bringing that up again, @135pipe! I saw your prior posts about that and had thought about messaging her. But then I looked her up on Facebook and her profile picture was of her and (presumably) her kids and I felt like I was invading her personal life by messaging her, so I didn’t. Good to confirm to avoid that. My second transcript was received today, but admissions told me they hadn’t “processed” it yet…so now it’s just the waiting game. Really crossing my fingers - I’ve worked so hard for this!

Thank you!! To be honest I’m really excited. I think it’ll work out great! Good luck with your appeal! I talked to a lady there named Kathy Romberg and she’s super nice! I would call the admissions office and ask to speak with her about you appealing and wanting to go there.

Yea I remember her she was nice

@alexk37 Really, do you think? Maybe I’m a realist, but I seem to get the impression that calling the admissions office isn’t going to do anything to help your case. I’ve called about a hundred time for things concerning my first application and my appeal, sometimes I get people that talk to me like I’m a shoe-in and sometimes I get people that talk to me like I should just end my life now (kidding). The admissions staff seems to run the gamut and from what I understand the office staff has absolutely nothing to do with neither the admissions or appeal committees.

Also, my appeal went into review today! :-SS

Yeah, who knows if it’ll help or not! I didn’t talk to anyone beforehand. I just wrote them a letter for my appeal and then she called me. She seemed nice when I talked to her so that’s why I suggested it, I don’t think it’ll hurt your chances but definitely make sure you don’t pester them! Good luck!

Just curios what can you appeal for? Is it basically like asking them for another chance?

Yes tell the, you want to be considered for either libearl arts or undecided easiest to get into

Yes exactly, another chance for admission! Were you denied?

Who me? ^

Just want to clarify that the appeals process is not just a “second chance for admission”. If you applied and were denied, submitting your application again is just going to yield the same result. The appeals process is for students who feel that something on there original application was incorrect or overlooked. In order to successfully appeal, you have to have new information in your appeal that was not considered in your original app. I think the committee calls it “new and COMPELLING information”. In other words, appealing and saying, “Hey, maybe you didn’t know how much I want to go here!” will do absolutely nothing for you and will waste both your and the committee’s time. Appealing and saying, “Hey my transcript grades were incorrect!” or “My class rank was incorrect!” or “I raised my GPA this spring a largely SIGNIFICANT amount!” is what the appeals process is for. You have to have a sincerely legitimate reason for appealing that states that something in your original application went tragically awry.

All of the peoples appeals that were accepted had new compelling info and mistakes were made

My appeal has been in review for eight days. Hopeful and optimistic - but still nervous!

Good luck man fingers crossed. Keep us updated ok

Any word

Nothing over the weekend. Still in review! After waiting so long for my initial app and then being rejected, I really don’t mind the wait. I would like them to take all the time they need to carefully review my appeal. Hoping for good news eventually!
