Honors packets come separately after your acceptance. My daughter got hers a few days later.
would love to know real defer stats…still haven’t heard of too many rejections given he new policy during EA…
I received my honors program invitation in the mail today! The letter was postmarked December 22nd.
I did receive my honors program invitation.
My stat: 2270 SAT. 800 Math II, 780 Chem.
I’m an international applicant living in Florida. Is it true if you get the invitation to the honors program, you will be more likely to receive financial aid?
My family can contribute 12k btw.
@texasmissy, my son received his yesterday; we live in the Southwest.
For those who have received the letter for the Honors College, does anything on the Villanova Admissions Portal change?
@nervoussss12 my daughter’s portal did NOT change since she received the honors letter.
For those wondering about deferred stats…
I am a Midwestern white male
ACT 34 (no they aren’t just looking at test scores) 32E 35M 35R 33S
UW GPA of 3.55. W GPA 4.4
Rigorous ECS, with work experience
5 APS, strong results
No previous connection to the school
Strong essays (everyone thinks their essays are great though)
No financial need
I was deferred and I’m still hoping for the best. I know 2016/2017 was a big year for apps at Villanova, so I’m trying to keep it all in perspective. I hope this helps for anyone interested.
Anyone else applying for the Presidential scholarship? I can’t figure out how to upload it to the applicant status page
@simon2 With your stats, you can do much better than Villanova.
@londondad that’s very nice of you. I sent in a LoCI, and I’m still in the game, so I’m crossing my fingers. Best of luck to all and congrats to all those who were accepted.
@simon2 Hi, I am a freshman ChemE major at Nova. I too was deferred last year, but I wouldn’t get too discouraged. I had a 27 ACT and a 1850 SAT and was accepted in the Spring. There is rumor that the acceptance rate is going to go down this year, but keep your hopes up. Your numbers look pretty good but nova also looks for people with a strong service background and leadership experience. I would suggest sending supplemental material to them before the regular decision deadline in January to strengthen your application. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask me.
@simon2 @londondad I think the only reason you did not get in was the GPA. If you had strong senior year grades on your mid year report, I think that would greatly increase your chances. Of course the ACT is solid and everything else looks good too.
If I was deferred, will they see/read my presidential scholarship application?
Has anyone begun submitting things through IDOC? My application status says Villanova wants an IDOC cover sheet, but you don’t use that if you are submitting forms online right? Anyone else have this issue?
To those that received letters about the honors program - was it along with other admissions info or was it just a letter by itself? I was accepted but have not received anything by mail yet. Just wondering what I can expect/if they’ve mailed other materials out yet.
My daughter got a separate honors mailing a few days later, maybe a week…can’t remember but she got it a while back.
Separate later a few days later.
Agreed that 3.55 UW is probably the snag. Good luck in the RD round.
My daughter was also hoping to get into the honors program. She has a 34 ACT , 4.0 , lots of EC’s and was accepted EA into engineering. When we visited this Fall I spoke to a honors college representative and she said the very few students in the Engineering Program were invited into the honors program. Engineering students have a set curriculum and it was difficult to make room for the honors requirements. Not sure if this is true, but that’s what we were told.
