***Official Villanova EA 2021 Discussion Thread***

@m2021appk how did you send one in, and to whom did you send it

@m2021appk hmm… Okay, thanks for the response.
I sent mine in close to Christmas and have not heard back :confused:
I know they only got back to school on the 17th, but I was hoping for a response.

D sent one on 1/15 both email and hard copy…from ny…no response…for those who heard back on interest letters, where are you from?

@1zogden1 - I sent it in as an email in the text box(not as an attachment) and to my regional admissions guy.
@c011e9e - I wrote it over my winter break but waited to send it in until last week for the sole purpose of it not getting lost in the shuffle, that’s the only thing I imagine we could have done differently.
@bk2021 - I am from Washington, DC.

@c011e9e @bk2021 I also sent my regional admission rep an email on the 1st or 2nd of January (I think) before they got back. I got an immediate out-of-office email, but nothing else after that. I sent a similar letter to Northeastern (where I also got deferred) and received a response the day that the representative was back from break

On another note, has anyone who applied for the Presidential Scholarship heard back yet?? I figured I would hear back of whether or not I got it this week

@m2021appk @1zogden1 @c011e9e @bk2021 Hey, I’m just wondering how you guys wrote your LOCI. I want to write one for another school that I was deferred from, but still don’t know what to really talk about. How long was your guys’ letters? Also, did you email your regional rep? This is for Georgetown, but I’m assuming its the same process. Since applying, I got first semester grades in, won a few small awards, added a letter of recommendation and took some more subject tests. I’m not sure if it should be more of an “update” letter or something different. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

@acs116 I got a letter for the regular Villanova scholarship maybe about 2 weeks ago. I have not been paired with an interviewer yet though, which is strange because I am in PA, so I expected it to be a quick process. I’ve heard nothing about presidential though. The timeline on the website says sometime this week, so it should be soon!

@HSStudent938 for both of my LOCI I wrote about a half page stating that I am still extremely interested in the school, and stating a couple extra highlights that have happened during senior year that wouldn’t have ended up on my application. You don’t want to kill them with too much info, and you don’t want them to have to read a whole lot (cause they could spend the whole time thinking that they don’t want to read it), so keep it short and concise but still showing the gist of being interested and committed.

Any chance I could still get into the EA groupme?

Presidential scholarship notifications are online in the top right corner of the applicant status page

I wasn’t a finalist. :frowning: Really slim chance though, so I guess I’m not surprised. Although I’m RD, even if I do get in, I don’t think I’ll be able to afford villanova. Congrats to anyone who was selected as a finalist!

Has anyone been contacted about an interview for the Villanova Scholarship? I got the letter in the mail a while back but it seems like they have yet to schedule the interviews based on what people have said on the boards. We still have until the end of the month to hear back, but I just want to make sure I’m not the only one who is waiting. Chicago area if that helps.

@HSStudent938 - @acs116 is absolutely right with the content but I’m not sure if he meant a half page single or double spaced, I was told to shoot for around one page double spaced. And they will see your second semester grades either way so I don’t think you need to mention those.

I’M A FINALIST!!! So excited!!!

FYI as I see many of you replying about having interested in the RD from EA.

My Son last year was deferred from EA to RD. We sent the reply in and heard silence. So he found out the local admissions rep for his county(we are in NJ). He emailed him directly. Secondly, our neighbor who did graduate wrote a letter of recommendation. We did hear from him every time we email. He was great.

However, from RD he went on the wait-list. They put on on the wait list (over and over) until Aug.(which was crazy). My son had committed to Penn State Bus School and was admitted into the Sapphire Program (you have to apply) and he absolutely is thrilled. They did reply at the end and stated they did not go use the wait-list.

My other son did get accepted EA this year into the business school (He had a 1460 SAT, Pres of clubs,etc.)

My best advice as I am in the National Recruiting business - you will find a great school and you will exceed.

Remember you make the school, the school does not make you. You will create your success!

Good Luck ALL!

@sweendog My daughter is also awaiting a call from the interviewer. We’re in New Jersey.

@panic2017 Congratulations! Good luck with the interview!

@HSStudent938 Thank you!

If you don’t apply by the presidential scholarship deadline, could you still be considered for smaller scholarships?

@sweendog an alumni has been emailing for an interview. I live around campus so maybe that is why she contacted so soon. you will hear from an alumni in a matter of time.
