[] Summer Activities: unpaid internship with NASA at University of Puerto Rico, paid internship at NASA Ames
[] Essays: All amazing, honestly. My common app essay is about moving around every 2 years and how that’s led to my passion for astronomy/NASA, my short essay is a cute reflection on working at an ice cream shoppe, my Why Yale? essay talks about how its the only American University with my desired major (Mathematics & Philosophy), and my longer essay is about my transformation from a stereotypical math nerd into a more well-rounded student (read “Sophie’s World” – it’s an amazing book!).
[] Teacher Recommendation: One is definitely beyond amazing and the other one I have no idea.
[] Counselor Rec: Probably good, I know her fairly well and she likes me.

[] Weaknesses: I thought my SAT I score was decent until I looked on CC! and my ECs aren’t spectacular

Congratulations to all that got in! I’m kind of annoyed that I have to wait 4 more months but I’m so glad that I wasn’t rejected because I really do love Yale. I’m sure all of us will end up at amazing places :)

[/ul]General Comments:
I was expecting deferral because of Yale’s selectivity; still, it hurts. I don’t regret anything. We’ll all get in somewhere! :D

Rejected with 2380, 3.98 UW for my friend. She’s given up on applying to private colleges now (except for Dartmouth, because it’s 0 additional effort), figuring it’s pointless, but maybe it’s just the disappointment of the first few hours.

Reflection
arbitrary admissions process. did not have any hooks, and did not stand out enough to get in without one. Congrats to all who got accepted, and am sure that I’ll end up somewhere great come next August.

I couldn’t have even got deferred if I had never tried, so now time to enjoy the Christmas holiday with just a little nag of worry until march/april. <3

Decision: Deferred

AS you can see, some really amazing people got deferred. Some really amazing kids got rejected and accepted too. It’s a crapshoot, so congrats to whoever got it. Congrats to all who had the balls to apply in such a competitive pool. I’ll see you all in April, its time to bust out a fatty Brown essay and complete a Princeton app.

You guys are all amazing. :)
