partying at UNC

^ What!!...10% of the time...whatever.

10% of the time?! Whaaaaaat?! As someone who goes here, I can tell you that is NOT the case.

Here's the deal with UNC: it's like many other colleges. If you want to party every night get blackout drunk constantly, you can. If you don't want to party at all, you don't have to. Most people are somewhere in the middle, partying 1-2 nights a weekend. People have their nights when they overdo it by accident but for the most part, people are not aiming to drink until they pass out.

Maybe you just don't know my friends

While I think that the 10% thing is a bit of a stretch, UNC definitely has good parties for those who want them. Tucker Max, a duke law graduate, said that the best think about Duke is that it is 15 minutes away from chapel hill.

Apparently I don't, but I just don't want people to get the idea that EVERYONE parties constantly. That is certainly not the case.

The friends that I was talking about are big partyers. Some of my other friends who are in the honors program say that they don't have time to party accept on friday and saturday. I guess it just depends on what class you take and how many hours per semester. I would go as far to say that UNC is the highest ranked school with as many partyers/parties as they do.

I have some friends, one at one of the top ranked small LACs in the country, who have far wilder stories than I do about partying. And I am definitely not a hermit. Unless you go to BYU, your school will have a large group of people who party hard. At a Model UN conference I went to this fall, plenty of Ivy Leaguers showed up late to committee hung over, or didn't show up at all. It's college. People drink. It's not a huge deal where ever you go. UNC is way more tame than I thought it would be, but the quote that there's always something to do is absolutely true. Do you want to drink all the time? Hell yes you can do that here! Good luck keeping your grades up, but you could attempt it. Want to go through this campus without ever touching a drop of alcohol but still having fun 24/7? Also possible, but again, good luck keeping your grades up. You can have whatever type of fun you want, but you will have to study to keep your act together.
