Penn App. - Q & A!

my teacher just put my overall letter grades for the years she had me as a student.

will a title for the "why penn" essay annoy the admissions people? My title is important to the point of the essay.

And, how many teacher recs did you guys submits? The application says one but many of you have sent in two! IS ONE THE PREFERRED NUMBER?

I don't think a title will be annoying.

For '09, it was two required.

If the new one says one, then send one official and if you find another that is really good submit it as supplementary.

I believe two are required for class of 2010 also.

yeah, you need two recs

Yes....from looking at the application...3A and 3B...

what? you need two recs? But there's only one form! I have one teacher rec and one guidance consoler rec without the form/evaluation thing. Is that okay?

Oh, sorry, i just checked the complete application and since i'm INTL it's slightly different... We have one teacher rec whereas the regular application has two.

I don't know if this has been asked before, but is it okay to mail out teacher recs myself? My teachers gave me the completed recs for me to mail out, but I saw on the form that it said, "Mail to...".

Obviously it's OK. Just put in envelope, seal, affix stamp, and ta da!

They do that so the teacher doesn't have to show you, if they don't want to.

are any of you transfering to Upenn ?

my second essay is too long right now. ive read through the posts here and no one's talked about whether they used blank lines or just indents or paragraphs. did anyone use indents to save a lot of space?

correction: *for paragraphs

I just used indents... not to save space, but because most books save blank lines for omitted periods of time, etc. :)

Do you have to submit your financial form by the 1st as well? Or are you allowed to submit that afterwards as well?

nope. gotta be in with everything else. profile too. the fafsa can wait, i think

^wait i thought the profile could wait too...?

The CSS Profile?

idk. it had to be in for ED'ers. i would expect the same for RD'ers as well.
