Penn App. - Q & A!

I've found people on this forum (and this site) to be, for the most part, really helpful. It's a nice atmosphere and I hope we speak for most kids at the respective schools, too.

:)

yeah. i haven't looked at any of the other boards (dartmouth, yale, et al) really, but they don't seem to have quite that dynamic, though. thoughts?

(temporary digression from original topic)

We're just crazy awsome, that's my theory.

Or, as my calc teacher would say: "We're dominant!"

Sorry, it's late.....I've been writing essays for the past 2 days. I don't think I"m capable of coherent thought any longer.

wow, you're lucky! I was never capable of coherent thought to begin with...

In that case, I do enjoy your incoherent ramblings......

so its okay if I go over one page on the online application?

my THOUGHTS are incoherent. my ramblings are literary masterpieces, i thank you ;)

-so much for temporary digression

gmman: I wouldn't do it...somewhere it has to say a word or page range/limit. until, or if you don't find it, stick to just one page, i think

I really don't see why an essay has to go over one page. You're

a) Probably boring the adcome
b) Violating a recommendation by the very college you're applying to

Maybe it's just me...

Okay, I'm applying by paper... and some of the stuff didn't fit in the boxes so I either left the spaces out to squeeze it in, or wrote it in below the box. Is that okay? I hope it is... I don't know what other way I could squeeze it in.

Also, is there a certain envelope Penn wants the app sent in? Can I just use a regular manilla?

Here's the thing, I can reformat it to be a page long, but it'll make the essay harder to read, and the online application does not say anywhere that essays must be a page long (I've looked a couple of times).. since the short essay has different limitations from the paper app (300 characters instead of fitting it all in the space provided), I'd assume that if there were any limits to the length of the essay, they would have noted them..

I'm in the same situation as astrid, does anyone have an answer?

Just submitted parts 1 and 2 of my app. All that's left is recs and SAT scores to be sent.

Awesome.

If we selected Penn as one of the schools to be sent (for our SAT scores), we don't need to send them anything else (SAT-wise), right? For example, I took my SAT in October and Penn was one of four schools I chose to receive my scores (first four schools are free), so I don't need to send them scores again, correct?

lol 26e.. my why penn essay is size 10 and my 217 essay is size 11.. wow im a cheater.. hopefully i can cut it down

astrid_asteroid, I'm sure the envelope in which you send the application does not matter. In the paper app, there is a big envelope attached, but if that doesn't work for you, then go fo a big manilla one. Think bigger picture:)

congrats collegehopeful! I'm almost there.....

Submitted everything today. Now the waiting begins...

I'm already getting nervous. And I have to wait 'til December? Ha!

Oh no! If you start getting nervous now, you'll be in deep trouble when December rolls around..........just take deep breaths, collegehopeful.

Do you include the essay question at the top of the essay or not?
