Pitt Acceptance Letters Mailed?

I just got into the honors college. Got my letter in CA. Waiting to see if I’ll get any money.

If you didn’t get money, I would be very surprised!

Congratulations to everyone! I have a question. My daughter is applying and her guidance office sent her transcripts electronically on Monday, Oct.5. Since it the only part of her application that is missing, we are anxious to see that they have been processed. If any of you had your transcripts sent electronically, how long did it take before you saw that they had arrived?

Received my letter notification of guaranteed acceptance into the graduate engineering program of my choice today. I’m pretty sure I put med-school, not positive though. My intended major is biomedical engineering… maybe I should contact someone?

Yes, call OAFA and see why you didn’t get the med school guarantee. Calling is better than e-mailing, in my opinion.

I thought the guaranteed medical school requires an interview with the School of Medicine. After your initial application to Pitt, the med school will determine who they want more information from. If asked, you had to send in an essay and two letters of recommendations. The med school chooses the students for the interview and then upon acceptance you have to maintain the 3.75 gpa.

Ah, okay. I must have missed that part/forgotten about it. Thanks MT

Okay I looked it up and found:

I was accepted into the school FOR BIOENGINEERING, and my ACT was 34(greater than 33…) so I wonder if this means I still didn’t meet the qualifications or?

Okay sorry about the triple post, but I figured I should tell everyone. I called in and asked about it, and she said they haven’t started reviewing for the medical school guarantee yet, and they sometimes send students guarantees for both, so just because I was offered the engineering one doesn’t mean I can’t also have a shot at the medical one. So…

Medical school guarantee reviews have no started yet :)

Good luck as it is extremely competitive :)

Yeah I probably don’t have that good of a chance, but it’s nice to know I’m not totally out of it yet haha. I just thought maybe I made a mistake on my app that completely kept me out of consideration for the medical thing

So was the graduate school guarantee a letter entirely different from your acceptance letter? I received an acceptance letter and an Honors College acceptance package, but no word about my guaranteed acceptance status. I applied for the guaranteed acceptance to the Graduate School of International and Public Affairs.

To the people who applied to graduate school guarantees: I’m pretty sure the more competitive ones require a second application. When I applied to the medical school one they send you a letter inviting you to apply and this involved an additional essay, a resume, and letters of recommendation. And an interview if they like what you submit.

Keep in mind that the medical school “guarantee” is very very very hard to fulfill anyway. So if you get it, you still have to maintain a 3.8 average. And that is unbelievably tough, knowing what the premed requirements are like.

^ Actually it’s a 3.75 minimum, and to get into a medical school the caliber of Pitt’s the normal way would require much more than just a 3.75 gpa. So I’d say it’s a pretty good deal.

The grad school guarantee was a completely different envelope from the acceptance letter and the honors college package. It was a regular sized envelope if that helps, too. The lady I called said that the different grad schools review at different times, so you still have a shot

My daughter (in-state) just received a large envelope from the University of Pittsburgh in today’s mail with “Congratulations” on the outside. Application was filed online on 9/27 with SAT scores sent from collegeboard (they indicated they sent out 10/2) and transcripts were mailed from high school on 10/1. Pitt indicated “Application Complete” on 10/6. So looks like (at least for in-state) it’s taking about one week to process recent applications after their website indicates “Application Complete”. Now just have to wait for her to open the envelope when she gets home from school today. Will post detail on “Official Class of 2014 Pitt Decisions Thread” tonight or tomorrow.

Congrats poiuytre!

Thanks aglages. Congratulations to your daughter also!

So if I live in the Pittsburgh area and they have all my information (and I just applied this last weekend), I should receive my decision somewhere between 1 and 2 weeks? Can anyone else confirm this happening to them?

Also, if I sent in my transcript last month, how long does it take for them to merge my files (my.pitt says I’m missing my transcript, but Pitt confirmed receiving it a while ago) so that my application becomes complete? Anyone have this happen to them as well?
