@sonoma123, It would allow for a few weeks after we receive the grades. We will need time to process and review the information and then send you the admissions decision. Best of luck!

@hailtopitt1787 Hi, I know I asked earlier about a portal, but I still haven’t gotten anything. I applied on the 19th of January and I just tried contacting the technology office but they need a username and password, which I haven’t gotten in the email or anything. The only email I got from the university was one confirming my submission and nothing else. What should I do?
Hi,
I was accepted to Pitt OOS back in the last week of November, and I still haven’t heard any info about Financial aid and/or merit scholarships or anything about a price of tuition. Would anyone know when or if I will receive this information? Please let me know. Thanks.
@nygiants1999 -Congrats!
The total cost of attendance (OOS tuition, room and board, etc.) is found on the website.
https://oafa.pitt.edu/financialaid/costs/
The scholarship criteria are listed there also but here is a copy and paste:
Criteria for scholarship consideration include SAT/ACT results, overall grade point average, class rank (if applicable), and strength of curriculum. Activities outside of the classroom such as leadership positions, athletics, community service, etc. are reviewed but given secondary consideration.
In recent years, scholarship eligible students possessed ALL of the following:
minimum SAT score of 1490 or 33 ACT composite overall ‘A’ average
top 5% class rank (if applicable) while participating in challenging high school curriculums consisting of AP/IB/Honors courses record of excellence in various academic and nonacademic activities outside of the classroom
Financial aid (not merit based aid) is supposed to be released in March from H2P has mentioned.
@carachel2 Thanks for the info. Do you think I should contact my regional admissions officer about merit aid or does this mean that since I haven’t heard I didn’t get any?
@deadroses, It is strange that the Technology Department is unable to assist you, they should be the ones who send the email and information. It may be worthwhile to reach out again and let them know that you haven’t even received the initial email and don’t have a username yet, see if there is another way they can look up your account. I would also encourage you to check your spam filter.
@nygiants1999, Financial aid award letters start going out in February to those who have filled out their FAFSA. Scholarship letters have been going out weekly since November and will continue to go out until March 1. So no need to worry yet!

As I understand it, Pitt sends out letters by mail to advise if you got any financial aid, and that starts on 2/1 up to and including 3/1. If you don’t receive any letter in the mail by 3/1, it is safe to assume no financial aid was given. Is this correct???
@njdad70, That is not correct, financial aid letters go out throughout the spring. So no need to worry if March 1 passes and you still haven’t heard. Financial aid letters start going out in February and those who have already filed their FAFSA should hear back pretty early on. The Financial Aid staff will try to get you information as quickly as they can, based on when they receive your FAFSA information. Some key dates:
-March 1: We recommend you file the FAFSA by this date in order to maximize your financial aid options (grants, loans, and work study). If you miss this date you are encouraged to file anyway.
-March 1: The end of the period in which we send out institutional merit scholarship notifications. If you have not heard at this point, it is safe to assume you have not been offered an institutional merit scholarship. This timeline has no bearing on financial aid letters, though.
-May 1: The deposit deadline for Fall 2017 freshmen. Our aim is to get you all of the information you need well in advance of this deadline so you can make an informed decision about whether or not to commit to Pitt.
Hope that helps clarify!

Hi @hailtopitt1787 how can I see if the admissions committee wants my midyear report?
@deadroses, We will contact you directly if we need any more information before making an admissions decision.

A Pitt Admissions Staffer
@hailtopitt1787 so would that be through email, mail or the portal? My application status says complete but I’m not sure if that means anything.
@deadroses, It would be via mail. Your application status in the portal (Complete) simply indicates we have everything we need to review you for admission. If, during the review process, the Admissions Committee determines they need more information, they will send you a letter. Otherwise, they will make the decision on the first review and you’ll be notified of the decision via email or mail. Hope that helps clarify. Best of luck!

Thanks hailtopitt1787!
@hailtopitt1787 I was accepted to Pitt and decided to go to another school, how would I go about declining admission. I emailed the general admissions office about a month ago explaining and haven’t heard back. Thanks
@mcohen0312, You can do so in the same portal you would use to check the status of your application. You should have an email from Technology Services walking you through how to log in to check on your application. There should be a menu on the left-hand side and you can navigate from there to Accept/Decline your admission. Hope that helps!

Does anyone know if you get a t-shirt for any tour visit, or is that just exclusive for the Honors day? I don’t see it on any other agenda, but I’d prefer visiting on a saturday.
We received a tshirt on the first tour visit. We were there for a another specialized tour and received a bag and a tshirt.
My daughter received a t-shirt and she just did a tour not the full “visit”.
Is the tuition deposit supposed to be paid the moment I accept my admission decision, or can I accept and then wait?
Yes, payment of your deposit indicates that you accept.
