****PITT CLASS OF 2021 DECISIONS THREAD****

@nirenenels, Yes, you need to accept admissions and deposit at the same time - you have until May 1 to do so. Congrats on your admission to Pitt!

@hailtopitt1787
Sorry to bother you with my carelessness on my application. I’m a transfer student with an Associate degree.
I couldn’t find my high school using the search tool so I temporarily clicked on another school to continue my application.
When I submitted my application, I forgot to change it. I already sent Admissions Office an email with details.
Do you think that is a huge mistake and they’d disregard my application because of that?

@mwzac01, Since you let us know it was a mistake and sent a correction, you should be fine. Best of luck!

I was accepted to Pitt Greensburg for engineering but applied to main campus. How would I go about getting my app reconsidered for main?

@EngineerWannaB7, We encourage you to talk to Pitt Greensburg about their academic programs and opportunities: greensburg.pitt.edu

We do offer a process for reconsideration for the Oakland campus, however, less than ten percent of those requests result in a new decision and those that do are accompanied with significant new academic information, such as updated SAT/ACT scores and senior year grades. If you plan to pursue reconsideration, please email oafa@pitt.edu with your request and also detail what new academic information you plan to provide. Submission of supplemental information, such a recommendation letters, will not result in a new decision.

Accepted Dietrich school of arts and sciences for psychology
Gpa UW: 3.2 or 3.3 I’m assuming, good upward trend
ACT: 31, 32 superscored(36/28/34/31)
Happy I got in!!

I will do that, thank you!

Has anyone heard back yet after submitting midterm grades?

I was accepted yesterday after submitting my mid-year grades last week. 1380 SAT, 3.97 weighted GPA through grades 9-11, 4.59 weighted for mid-year GPA

Kapparando, may I ask which day last week you submitted your mid year grades, then heard back Monday 2/6? I submitted mine yesterday and I’m trying to gauge timeframe. Thanks!

@hailtopitt1787 hi I know that all scholarship notifications won’t be out until March but I’m pretty sure I will not receive one from pitt. I know that there is a cost analysis sheet that we can fill out to see if pitt will match the scholarship given by another school that is in the same range as pitt. When can I fill out the cost analysis? Do I have to wait until all scholarship notifications have been released? Thanks

@mk2112, Please contact our office to discuss Cost Analysis with one of our admissions staffers. They can have a conversation with you about the process and your specific situation, and advise you when to submit a request: 412-624-7488.

@hailtopitt1787 my guidance counselor sent mid-year grades through Naviance over the weekend. Do you know how long it takes for them to get downloaded and matched to my application?

@rmjk55, Please allow a few weeks for us to process the new information and for the Admissions Committee to take a look and make an admissions decision. Best of luck!

@hailtopitt1787 Once mid-year grades have been submitted (and are hjghest todate), can a scholarship offer be re-evaluated for a higher amount? Should the student contact the Honors College admissions or OAFA? Is there an “appeals” process? Thank you!

@opallady, Please contact our office directly to discuss potential scholarship reconsideration. Best of luck!

I got waitlisted from the engineering school after they requested my mid year grades, but they accepted me into the Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. One of the other majors that I’m interested in is Pre-Med and was wondering if the Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences has the Pre-Med major?

From my understanding, there is no “pre-med major”, you can major in anything, as long as you take premed prerequisites.

Dietrich would be a good school to be in for a premed.

While some engineering students go on to med school, it is generally harder to achieve a high GPA in the challenging engineering classes.

Ah thanks for the fast response @mommdc . I have been thinking about this new disappointing occurrence with Pitt after they asked me for my mid year grades and then relegated me to the Pitt of the Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences, and I realized that I kind of took one up the back door from Pitt. With that said, I’m just going to go to Penn State, which I was kind of leaning towards anyways. Good luck to you all at Pitt!

Good luck @averagewhiteguy. My son applied Engineering, also weight listed, and is waiting to hear back after resubmitting grades after midterms. He, too, got accepted to Penn State Engineering and becomes more interested in attending there every day. Pitt was his #1 choice, so he will be patient. But wishing you a wonderful academic experience at PSU. It’s an amazing choice!
