Thanks! @sonoma123 Good luck to your son! Sounds like we were in really similar situations. Hope it all works out!
One difference with PSU engineering I found when my ds was trying to decide between the two - PSU has enrollment limits to the major disciplines (MechE, BioE, EE, etc) - Pitt doesn’t have limits once into engineering school.

There is also an option of internal transfer from Dietrich to Swanson after freshman year. You could find out how many apply for transfer and are accepted into engineering later.
@hailtopitt1787 I was put into the Greensburg campus not even two weeks after I applied, but I applied for Pittsburgh. Would like to know why this was?
@MDFast1016, Admission to the Pittsburgh campus is quite competitive. When we are unable to offer admission to the Pittsburgh campus we will often do our best to match students with the regional Pitt campus that best fits their academic goals and interests. You can learn more about Pitt-Greensburg here: http://greensburg.pitt.edu/
Contact information for the Pitt-Greensburg admissions office is available on the site and they can discuss any questions you have about this decision and opportunities available to you at Pitt-Greensburg.

@hailtopitt1787 What time are decisions typically available online? Are they released on one day per week or random days depending on when you submit your application?
@sml1234, If you are asking about Admissions decisions - it is random. It depends on when the decision is made, but we send an email or letter within days of the decision being made. It takes a few weeks from the date we have your complete application for us to get you the decision.
Best of luck!

Anyone know about Pitt’s legacy scholarships?
@Byrdie12 that’s what I found through a search
Hi @hailtopitt1787 ,
Pitt is my #1 school, I applied mid september for engineering and I got a letter requesting mid-year grades, I updated my SRAR a couple of weeks ago…What are my chances of being admitted to the Swanson School of Engineering? (SAT-1190, GPA-3.82)
Also, would sending a letter of deferall help my chances? (as you can tell im super anxious)
Thanks!
@mpietri, Unfortunately, I cannot chance applicants. It really depends on a lot of factors. You will have to call our office about the letter of deferral question, I am honestly not quite sure. I will say though, if we ask you for mid-year grades you don’t have to automatically worry - the Admissions Committee is just asking for a little more info before they make a final decision. You can call our office on Monday if you would like to chat with us about your questions: 412-624-7488.

@hailtopitt1787 Okay, thank you so much for your help!
@hailtopitt1787 I applied to the school of business and was asked to send my mid-year grades. My grades were better than ever with all AP classes (unweighted GPA 4.0). I know you can’t answer specifically, but in general if you were asked to submit midyear grades and they were as good as if not better than previous years is that all that admissions is looking for, or can you provide this type of transcript and still get waitlisted?
I clicked on the “admission” on my portal and it asked me to accept or decline admission. Does this mean I get accepted because I hadn’t seen this option before on my portal until now. But I still haven’t received any mail or email from Pitt yet
After I send in the FAFSA how long will it take to know how much financial aid (need-based) I will get?
@tle2034 the email sometimes goes to your spam folder. Make sure to check there as well. But it is coming soon.
@mcc1970, It depends on multiple factors to do with the holistic review of your application. The Admissions Committee will have to take a look and let you know. Sorry I can’t be more specific! Feel free to call our office with questions about your specific application: 412-624-7488

Anyone know the requirements for legacy scholarships? I didn’t know they were a thing until recently, and I’m surprised that I wouldn’t fulfill them, whatever they may be xD
@mommdc Thank you.
@PAwind98 I received an email the other stating that I am eligible for the legacy scholarship. They forwarded a link for me to apply. I have a sister that graduated from Pitt.
