@collegehopeful71 – I’m posting from my phone so I can’t find the link, but look on the Pitt FA website. I believe there is one students can apply for after freshman year that is specifically only for students who did not get merit their freshman year. I think it’s for $10k.
@carachel2 thank you, I’ll take a look!
@collegehopeful71, It is possible to get some merit aid after your freshman year. Please take a look at your academic department, as well. They may have specific scholarships you can apply for. You can find more information about scholarships and financial aid here: https://oafa.pitt.edu/financialaid/available-aid-programs/

@hailtopitt1787 hello, you are the most helpful person on planet earth so I figure I’ll ask you a quick question: I was accepted as a transfer student for Spring 2017 but could not attend due to extenuating circumstances. I went back to my old school and I am currently taking 4 classes, all which will end in A’s I’m presuming. I re-applied for Fall 2017 and I’m just wondering if my previous acceptance and ensuing absence will make a difference. I paid the deposit fee and was scheduled for classes, but personal issues caused me to back out. Thanks for any and andll help, I can’t wait to (hopefully) be a Panther again!
@Nt2730087, I recommend you call our office to discuss this situation. I am able to answer more general questions about the admissions/aid process, but it is more difficult to discuss a student’s specific situation without all of the information. Our staff would be happy to assist you if you have any specific questions about your application: 412-624-7488.

@iamokay123, Financial aid information should come to you in the mail in a week or two, provided you have filed your FAFSA. Congrats on your acceptance!

Me too! But I got my letter before the video!
my D got admitted to PITT with Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences with an intended field of study in Computer Science . She applied for new computing school they are opening in fall. how we do ensure she gets the right school My daughter is a US citizen and we are clue less about scholarship. what should we do
@manasvini234, The School of Computing and Information (SCI) is a upper level division school. That means that students should complete prerequisites in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and then apply to transfer into SCI as juniors. Her Pitt academic advisor can work with her each step of the way to ensure she takes the right classes and is able to transfer into SCI.
So she should be good to go! Hope that helps clarify.

How long should I expect to hear back from Pitt after sending my mid-year grades in?
@rtsoccer, It takes us a few weeks to receive the grades, process them, and make an admissions decision. If we have received your grades, you should hear from us shortly.
Best of luck,

I have got the financial award package and they are asking me to accept it. I still need to work out the financial obligations. should i accept the financial award package separtely then acccepting admission. what is the difference between accepting awards vs accepting admission
what is the panther pride award grant thing? when I look at my financial award package it says I already accepted it & I can’t uncheck it
@manasvini234, You should accept admission before accepting financial aid. If you commit to Pitt, then you will need to go into your student portal to accept, decline, or reduce the aid you have been offered. Pitt grants and scholarships require no action on your part, they are automatically accepted for you since they do not require repayment. Loans and work study should be accepted, reduced, or declined based on your needs and what you determine is best to take. Hope that helps clarify! Our website (oafa.pitt.edu/financialaid) describes the process in greater detail. It also describes the different kinds of aid and what the difference is between a grant/loan/scholarship/etc.
@iamokay123, The Panther Pride Award is a need-based Pitt institutional grant. It is automatically accepted because it is a grant and does not require repayment (as I described in the previous paragraph). It is renewable for up to four years, as long as financial need exists.
If either of you have more questions, feel free to contact our financial aid staff: finaid@pitt.edu or 412-624-7488.

@hailtopitt1787 have all engineering department scholarships been distributed?
@perch1024, I am not sure about departmental scholarships (which are disbursed to current students and not managed by Admissions).
As for any Pitt scholarships awarded to incoming freshmen, which we do manage, I know that most of the scholarships have been awarded. We have typically sent all awards by the beginning of March every year.
Once I get any more info I will be happy to share. As always, you are also welcome to contact our office with any specific questions. We will be happy to assist: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.

My d received an extra $13k in scholarships from Pitt this week, which has made Pitt a viable option. Thank you @hailtopitt1787
@OldCheermomDC, did you file the appeal form? is that all non need-based merit aid?
