Thank you!
Thank you @carachel2 and @PAwind98
Has anyone received merit-based scholarships yet?
@99tfiorentino – here is the merit scholarship thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pittsburgh/1934539-class-of-2021-merit-scholarships.html#latest
We found out today that there has been a decision on my daughter’s application but her application in the mypitt portal just says “complete”. From reading this thread others have seen “admitted” on their portal. We were told that she would receive an email tomorrow or Saturday. Is that bad or good? If a student is not accepted, do they just get a letter or a letter and email?
@oldschool93 try this link here to see the results. Also check the junk folder because this particular email always ends up in there. https://psmobile.pitt.edu/
Looked on psmobile. Under Admissions it has an accept/decline admissions link. When we click on that link, it says “you have no pending applications at this time”. I’m wondering if it means she did not get admitted or the data pushed has not been pushed to the portal yet. Where on psmobile did others see “admitted”?
@oldschool93 did your email look like this below? This was the first email we received, then followed by a video that ended up in the junk folder
"#PittComingSoon
Thank you for submitting your application to the University of Pittsburgh. The Admissions Committee has completed their review of your application and your admission status will be mailed to you."
@OldCheermomDC no email yet. Just accept/decline admissions on psmobile. Does that mean anything?
Did anyone get an email who did not get admitted? Or do emails go only to admitted students?
No that button doesn’t mean anything yet. I did see on this thread a few people that were rejected.
Hey everyone! I saw that people who logged into psmobile could see their application under admissions - mine says “You do not have any pending applications at this time.” Does that mean I wasn’t accepted? Is it a mistake?
My daughter was accepted but not to main campus. She got accepted to the Bradford campus instead since she wasn’t offered admission to main campus. Got an email but no video (checked spam folder) that came at 6pm on Friday night. Psmobile still has “accept/decline” but when we click on the link it still says “You have no pending applications at this time”. By the way, she applied in August and then Pitt asked for her mid year grades in Sept. She got a 3.85 first MP and a 3.75 2nd MP.
For the record, here are her stats:
GPA (weighted) as of end of 2nd MP: 3.43
2 honors courses
1 AP course
Heavy course load in math/science 11th and 12th
SAT (new) 1170
ACT 22
Heavy community service/youth group activities
Good luck to everyone!
The GPA seems fine, expecially with her senior year increase. She might have benefited from retaking the ACT or SAT. There might be transfer possibilities from the branch campus to main, if her college GPA is high enough.
@BubbleGirl90 Not sure if anyone responded about cost analysis. My son sent in college app very late but was admitted 10 days later for CS. We did not hear anything about merit scholarships by 3/1 deadline (didn’t expect to). We contacted his admission counselor and she instructed us to do the cost analysis. All his top schools are OOS and comparable schools. Without merit aid Pitt is more expensive (not eligible for need based). We sent in our cost analysis via email on 3/7 and were told a decision would be sent by 3/23.
@breakfastClub1, where can we find cost analysis information?
Thank you, @carachel2!
@4beardolls --you are welcome! And good luck.
From past year’s comments it looks like those who are the most successful are ones who have all of the following:
-have already received a merit offer from Pitt
- whose stats fall in line with the published merit range https://oafa.pitt.edu/financialaid/academic-scholarships/
-have offers from comparable schools that brings the total COA at those schools lower than the COA at Pitt
@4beardolls Glad someone could help you! Once you fill it out, only if PITT is more expensive (after aid, etc) then your comparable OOS schools should you send it in. We emailed everything to the email on the form. You will also need to supply them with your scholarship letter received from the other schools. If I recall correctly, we received a confirmation/date for response approx a day later.
