Hi all, just sharing this so future posters can search and see the answer to our previous questions on this thread… My son received an email last night (March 19) notifying him that he was awarded the Chancellor’s Scholarship. Wow! Hail to Pitt!
Congratulations! That’s awesome! Would you be able to share your sons stats and extra curriculars? Thank you!
@kpmmom congrats! It’s an awesome scholarship. My son is on his third year at Pitt as a chancellor’s scholar and it’s been a wonderful experience for him. So many opportunities have opened up for him!
Congrats again!
@missbwith2boys So glad to hear it, thank you! Can you send me a private message? I had a couple of questions I’m wondering if you’d answer.
@asr712 Sure, out-of-state, SAT 1520, GPA 93.5, all IB/AP/Honors, SGA, co-pres of debate club, co-pres of drama club, soccer, NHS, science/debate awards, volunteers as a tutor, soccer trainer, etc. All the students we spoke to who were there - and also got it - wanted double majors and some had much lower SAT scores. I think Pitt was looking for not the highest academic students but those with varied interests.
@kpmom, thank you so much! Appreciate you replying back. Very happy for you and your son. Best wishes!
Congrats to everyone! My student was accepted as a Chancellor’s Scholar, so to those who accepted from past years, can you share what schools and offers you turned down to go to Pitt? Excited!!
hi@hailtopitt1787
My son is accepted and he only received $5k merit scholarship. He was expecting more based on his stats/gpa. Can he ask for review his schoarship decision? If yes, then how? He is very much interested to go to pitts. he is not qualified for any need based financial aid though.
Thanks.
Hello @sams2018

My daughter was wait listed for Honors at Pitt (she was accepted to Rutgers Honors, Penn State Shreyers & Temple Honors). We are in-state, and she is especially keen for Pitt - but wants in on the Honors program. @hailtopitt1787 - any thoughts on timeline decisions? Thanks in advance.
Hi @Bromptonboy,
We do expect to accept a number of individuals from the wait list into the formal Pitt Honors cohort after May 1 but no later than June 1. However, there will not be a numerical wait list or more detailed information to share until that time. Even if your daughter is not ultimately admitted to the formal Pitt Honors cohort, please know that many Pitt Honors programs are open to all Pitt students and a student can re-apply for Pitt Honors the next academic year.
Good luck!

Hello @hailtopitt1787 ,
I was accepted into pitt honors but I will not be able to attend Pitt Honors Acceptance day. Can I still meet with the honors program on Pitt acceptance days?
Hi @dumbstressed,
Pitt Honors has info sessions every Monday and Friday at 1 p.m. on the 35th floor of the Cathedral of Learning. You can register here https://oafa.pitt.edu/visit/dailyvisits/
If you’re interested in scheduling a 1-on-1 meeting on a different day, please contact the Manager of Recruitment, Matt Schultz, at mas216@pitt.edu.

@sams2018 My D is going through the exact same thing, too. She sent an email. Fingers crossed for both our kids!
Hello @hailtopitt1787 (since you’ve been answering many of these questions),
I was waitlisted to Pitt’s honors college as well. Are we allowed to send in updates to our application for the college to review when making waitlist decisions? I turned in my application in November and was curious if I would be allowed (and if they would approve) to send the honors college an email to update them of any new accomplishments? This would be info such as acceptance to summer science programs and providing more information / updating them on research that I’ve been involved more heavily after I sent in my application in November. I don’t recall the waitlist letter mentioning anything about additional items or information, and I could be wrong, but I also know better than to send additional pieces of an application to a place that doesn’t want any additional information.
I do really like Pitt’s atmosphere and would like to boost my chances of getting into the honors college however I can.
Thank you very much for your help!
We don’t typically accept any additional materials unless it is something that has significantly changed your academic progress. If you feel that this applies to you, please reach out to your Enrollment Services Manager to give them an update and they will be able to provide you better guidance on what you should submit and what you shouldn’t: https://oafa.pitt.edu/esm_directory.php
Good luck!

@aeg203. My son did send an email but told denied politely for any further revision. Hope your daughter gets revision.
@sams2018 Very sorry to hear that for your son. My D submitted the request and then was asked for additional documentation (mid semester grades). Waiting to hear…
@hailtopitt1787 Do you have any notion of when the Nordenberg Leadership Scholars Program results will be announced? The website says decisions will be by 4/1/2019. Thanks in advance for your help.
@Aeg203 How did your daughter submit the request? Just by email and to who? Thanks
