5993 = AHHH. i never thought it was THAT big.
But davis isn't that wealthy as a city. The city's wealth flows into the uc. Berkeley has the bay area/ silicon valley, la jolla/san diego is pretty affluent, and ucla has bajillionaires. What does davis have? I think Irvine has equal if not more potential to grow. It's the "only uc in the oc" and so all the oc's money flow goes to uci.
...this is just my analysis..

UCD has the most acres, but a lot of the acres are used for agriculture. Believe me, I go here. The classes that you'll be taking will be mostly within the quad area, I walk to all of my classes.

ack davis can have as much land as it wants! for schools like la and cal it's harder to expand since they are in the city. btw is davis like the 2nd oldest school? i feel a little hesitant to go to davis cuz uci is quite a new school but it surpassed davis already.

Lol, don't beleive to everything you see on US News, I'd NEVER go to UC Irvine. Do some reserch, look how much Irvine spends for reaserch programs, look at their sports and so on. UC Riverside, Irvine and Merced are in the bottom of all UCs

The US News report was not correct. The link to show why has been posted numerous times on other threads. UC Irvine while doing just fine, has not surpassed UCD. UCLA is the second oldest UC. Do a little research to back up your assertions. You are mostly reporting incorrect information. Davis has and continues to enjoy excellent funding. The campus has seen a tremendous amount of new construction and is very attractive. Also UCD is located in a college town, and is not a commuter school like UCI. Most agree that the atmosphere of UCD is much nicer than Irvine.
Here is a link for the history of the California UC system. (college students should know how to do this kind of research to back up the facts they report)

lol, you guys i didn't mean to offend anyone. i was just questioning whether ucd is the 2nd oldest uc. i did indeed believed uci surpassed ucd because i hear it from everyone and especially over the uci forum. everyone says it's ranked as the 4th UC? plus if it's supposed to be 6 ranks higher wouldn't it still be under UCI? i also noticed some other stuffs on collegeboard that make me feel like UCI is a lil higher up there. i do agree that ucd's atmosphere and sport teams are much more superior. uci can not be at the bottom of all UCs? lol, i hear different things from different students. anyways, i'm just a senior trying to figure out which college to go to. no offense. gosh i thought ucd students were known to be friendly.

i believe ucd used to be better than uci but uci really grew during the past few years. ucd is not really 48th in rankings due to a reporting error by the staff or something...so it's much higher- i would say tied with uci. the thing with davis is now that it's football team has moved up, more money is being brought in. now it's ucd's turn to grow. it will probably surpass uci in the next few years. well at least i think it will.

i was having trouble deciding between ucd and uci. i was also thrown off by davis' low ratings in US news. but after doing the research, i realized ucd is the place for me. i think it will be a better school that uci by the time i graduate. that's just my opinion though.

Sorry blueprints, but you were the one not being nice on here. Of course you are going to hear skewed information on the Irvine board. As I already said, an incoming college student should be able to do this kind of research for themselves. In the future I suggest you check the veracity of your information before you post. (give us a link to your source) If you are giving an opinion, that is fine, but we will want to know what your opinion is based on. If the opinion you are sharing comes from someone else, who is it? I would expect you might trust a friend who has first hand experience, but if you are just going off of what someone you don't know said, think twice before you repeat it. At the very least, check it out. Have you visited both UCI and UCD? I am not a student at UCD, I am sending my daughter there.

i was not being mean in any way. it is you who insulting my judgement and capability. i was just questioning some things regarding ucd and obviously some people here are being bias. calm down, i'm not insulting neither you nor davis. alright then now i would only like to hear some first hand experience from ucd students, thanks.

vii: that is possible. i have a friend who go rejected from both uci and ucd and ONLY made it into ucsd. isnt that a surprise? probably not to collegemom of course.

blueprints:
I don't think giving factual information is biased. I do however, think that opinions that are stated as facts are biased.
" i feel a little hesitant to go to davis cuz uci is quite a new school but it surpassed davis already."
That is an opinion unsubstantiated by facts.
"i hear it from everyone and especially over the uci forum. everyone says it's ranked as the 4th UC?"
That is taking someone else's word (you don't even know) as truth without researching it for yourself.
"i also noticed some other stuffs on collegeboard that make me feel like UCI is a lil higher up there."
What exactly did you see? Who said it? Did they provide a link or source? Did they say it was just their own opinion?
" i hear different things from different students."
I do too, but I don't believe them without some sort of proof. If they state it is just their opinion I can choose to agree or not, but I'm certainly not going to take it as fact. It is fine to repeat what you have heard, just don't repeat it like a fact. Remember to say this is an opinion so that you don't give out incorrect or even false information. Don't take my suggestions personally, they are not in any way intended to insult you. I was just questioning your sources.

collegemom freakin rocks! i wish MY parents were that enthusiastic....well i can't complain. they did sigh a huge breath of relief once i chose uc davis.
