Preppy is the best style...agree or disagree?

@penguin369, marry me? Haha but forreal I think sports such as golf, tennis, or anything you’d pretty much find at a country club would qualify as a “preppy” activity, although it’s not exclusive. I think sports like football are usually not preppy for the simple fact that most football players are “jocks” which translates into a stuck-up attitude, which is the exact OPPOSITE of a preppy person. I personally play golf, tennis, and basketball, but to each his own.

Personally I think my type of girl is a southern belle wearing an OCBD tucked into nantucket red shorts (that are like 3-4 inches long) and Sperrys. The bow in the hair is pretty nice also and definitely those big hats if we’re at horse races, which is definitely the plan for later in my life when I’m a doctor lol.

My favorite style is a mix of preppy and high end import. I usually try to mix up Brooks Brothers and Lacoste polos with Guess/Armani jeans and other days gucci/dolce&gabbana tees and skinnier guess and levi 514s.
I usually wear either all leather lacoste tennis shoes or Prada sneakers (not worldwide cups, those are disgusting…) and always a Gucci or Victorinox mechanical watch.

(sorry about spelling/grammar, My iPhone is stuck in italian and has annoying autocorrect… Grrr)

I like to mix between prep and relaxed style meaning college hoodies, sweats, t shirts

levi’s 511’s & toms or with fitted shorts ftw.

I feel oddly comforted by not comprehending many of the words for clothing being used on this thread.

Hi BillyMC.

Hello, THE
HAIRY
LEMON. How goes the low pH?

Very sour. And acidic. -____-

How goes you WilliamMc?

Plotting the Revolution.

I have a such a mix of styles XD
One day i look super preppy with my ralph lauren polos and sperrys…the next day im wearing converse and skinny jeans…then i have my boho moments…fringe bags and such…

I wish more guys were like you. It’s so much easier for me to respect a guy who dresses nicely and takes care of himself (not to the point of highlights and manicures, mind you) and I honestly find a well-kept guy so much more attractive

skinny/slim jeans for jeans, kinda baggy shorts but not ghetto baggy for shorts, v-necks, polos or graphic tees for shirts, jordans or vans or supras for shoes, makes up pretty much 98% of my wardrobe. lol

Oh my gosh. I’m in love with this thread. I’m a girl, and I absolutely LOVE when guys dress preppy. Obviously everyone has their own opinions on clothes, fashion, etc. and we should respect all of them.

I personally take pride in what I wear. I’d say I dress a tad conservative, with a preppy touch. Here is the best way I can put it: 50% preppy, 20% conservative, 20% chic, 10% edgy.

I feel that everyone including teachers and peers give you a lot more respect if you dress nicely. That is a huge motive for me… along with the fact that I love fashion of course. People even ask me for fashion advice! I love the feeling.

Ah, where to begin? First of all, many of you seem so lovely! I wouldn’t mind going for a round of golf with you all.
My favorite favorite outfit is my pink and white Ralph OCBD tucked into a pair of his khaki cropped capris, with a ribbon belt, pearls and Sperry’s. So many of my peers can hardly respect my style, as they are too busy tucking their sweatpants into their , and what not. And the men, wiping crumbs from their stained football tees, think I dress too conservatively. E May I mention I go to a prep school?! Granted, it’s in Minnesota, but I just wish there were more clean, well dressed people here! I would really, really love to have someone like the OP in my class, because he sounds divine. :)

One last thing. “Shatter” nail polish! I am perhaps one of the only girls I know who hasn’t given into the -repulsive- fad. I opt for light shades of pink, and red for dressier occasions. Is anyone with me on this?

I don’t really like the way shatter looks, but I’m into lots of nail colors [bright colors in the summer, navy/deep purple/red/browns in the fall/winter, and pale pinks and browns in the spring.].

i hate that shatter crap! i really like bright colors on my toenails, but only in the summer. i’ve had bright orange, navy blue, bright green, and purple so far.

I feel so at home on this thread…(:

Being in High school, I’m still stuck in the “Hollister” phase of tight shirts and short shorts and flip flops (cue the cringes)–but I love my RL polos and Sperry’s.

I’ve only recently discovered that I love the “classic” look and feel so I’m still “collecting” the appropriate wardrobe. I appreciate well-dressed people. I always find they have a much classier attitude.

Welcome home then, Jen. I can tell you I’m in exactly the same boat. :)

I just bought a ridiculously preppy coat with elbow patches that I think I will wear with my Sperry Topsiders. Let’s just say that this is indicative of the rest of my wardrobe.

So, what sports do you all play? Any other golfers on this prep forum?

I golf and cycle tons in the summer and autumn, nordic ski in the winter, and lacrosse in the spring. I’m hopefully going to join rowing next summer! I also like an occasional sail and round of tennis with my friends.
