Preppy is the best style...agree or disagree?

What is a good wardrobe for a nerd who doesn’t wish to stand out?

Assuming you’re a girl Buy lots of jeans, jean shorts, dark color, light color, bleached, just buy denim!
Also, a white button down collared shirt is a must
and belts too! A nice belt can make anything look great.
Optional: men’s t-shirts. They look great on girls too

I’m not a girl…

While my teachers probably think I’m a dirtbag when I walk into the room in some flamboyantly colored sweatpants and a random sweatshirt, my class performance proves otherwise, so I have no qualms looking like that. In college I definitely won’t dress this way, but who really cares in high school?

I noticed everyone here, well at least the guys, wears Sperry’s. Does anyone else like drivers??

I’m not super aware of divers, but I take it you like them? I’m a Sperry girl, though. :)

I love Sperrys… Planning on ordering my 4th pair sometime soon!

The OP seems like an ass.

@swim18, I just ordered another pair, too! I should be getting them tomorrow. Which style did you get?

On the topic of sperrys, this is all so bizarre to me. Around my school there couldn’t be anything trendier… I encountered them for the first time around march and noticed everyone buying them in May- summer and so I thought it was just some dumb fad… guess I was wrong!

Haha, I don’t believe I know any guy that owns a pair of sperrys, and I go to a prep school. I’ve always thought they’re definitely more…feminine. But whatever floats your boat.

I’m not much of a fan of the preppy style, personally. I’d consider my style more vintage-trendy (think Urban Outfitters, Free People, Anthropologie, Modcloth). Nearly all the girls at my school take a big interest in fashion, so there’s not much of the stereotypical prep school look around.

I LOVE Urban Outfitters. I wish I could buy the whole Free People store, but most of the stuff are way too expensive for me. :/

Wow, no one in my school wears Sperry’s. But then again there are few people who actually dress really well.

Everyone loves an ass.

@RLlover16 I got another pair of the Bluefish style in Brown Deerskin, hahaha. They probably won’t come for a while though!

Sperry’s are trendy at the moment, but just like UGGs they’ll die down.

I’m beginning to switch out my really preppy wardrobe with more monochrome colors. Lots of white, light blues, and even a little black. Way more neutral than pinks, yellows, and all the other “preppy” colors.

I don’t see what’s wrong with a nice t-shirt and jeans…

Um… I wore this pinstripe shirt with a penguin on it once…

@swim, nice! I just ordered a pair of leather A/Os in white and navy. :)

To others, preppy is far from trendy at my school. I’m one of the few girls who wears polos and OCBD. As for Sperries, around here, people who sail wear them. Not random fools with their sweatpants.

lol there was this kid in 3 of my classes last year who dresses exactly how the OP says. He looks like my grandpa. The style is good but there’s very few people who can pull it off properly. If you want girls it’s much easier to just start lifting and wear tight shirts.

I agree that you really should have the right attitude, and at least some poise, to pull it of.

However, I think tight shirts are a turn off on men, and really not flattering on women. Unless, of course, you are doing something athletic.
