@xmas19 Here’s a helpful Quora thread! https://www.quora.com/Does-it-up-my-chances-of-getting-into-Princeton-if-I-live-in-Princeton-NJ
@LincolnsGF glad to see someone else freaking out at 12 am on this thread lol. thanks for the info! guess it doesnt, sooo nervous
HAHAH everybody I just read the REA thread for Stanford and literally everyone got rejected. Everyone had like a 4.8 GPA was first generation and won national awards for being the best at sports and school. I’m so discouraged #rejection! ANGSTYYYYYY TEENAGER
I was like ya maybe I could possibly get in. And then I read that chain, and now I’m livid. i was literally hysterically laughing while reading those because it was literally the best,most qualified people in the world that got rejected.
Princeton doesn’t look at kids by what prospective major they put on their application, right? I put the Woodrow Wilson School, which is one of the most competitive majors, so … kinda screwed lol
@violagirl01 i hope not, bc i put down physics and took the sat physics test last-min and literally failed like the score was bad enough but the fact that i put down physics as my intended major…aghhhh
Good luck to all 2023 applicants.
@rachelkul what struck me as odd was that some people (and I mean this with absolutely no offense or any disrespect, hats off and congrats to all who were admitted) who were clearly not as qualified as others got a spot, but others who had outstanding achievements were not even deferred.
To me, this reinforces the validity of the crapshoot in college admissions, but eh who knows? I can’t see their full application so maybe they had something special.
@stilsh Dont worry, I don’t think so because most students at Princeton don’t even declare their majors until 2nd/3rd year. Furthermore, Princeton is lenient for SAT Subject test scores as one person quoted at a conference with several admissions officers, they “understand that some people just don’t test well on that day.” Good luck!
good luck everyone!!!
Yeah I completely agree. However I think it’s important for all of us to understand that great stats won’t necessarily get you into these most prestigious universities. Great stats will help, but what schools like Stanford (and Princeton :-S ) are looking for is someone who can contribute something meaningful to their schools…not simply that they could play the college game by taking 15 APs and by getting a perfect SAT score. This is why we shouldn’t be too upset if the decision on Wednesday is not as we would’ve liked; the whole process is really random as evidenced by the Stanford REA results thread. Disappointment is expected, but there is a great school out there for all of us…maybe we’ll get into that school in December or maybe in March…we will see…
@LincolnsGF straight facts lol but still nervous from the anticipation.
@LincolnsGF well put
Does anyone know the distribution of decisions REA? (Like what percentage of applicants are accepted, rejected, or deferred)
@aryc123 I believe last year, 799/5402 were accepted. I don’t know the exact deferral rate but I believe for Princeton it is EXTREMELY high, over 75% from a report in 2014.
I’m just curious, did anyone else submit an Optional Arts Supplement? I submitted one for piano.
@iiRoMii u right. hahaha i’m literally so nervous.
@xmas19 I did as well! For violin and theater.
What did you submit as your supplement? Sheet music? Recording? I have live-performed with my drums before, but I didn’t really mention it in my application aside from being an extra-curricular.
@diagnostifikovan In my music supplement I made a ~15 min video highlighting my best playing.
