Prospective University of Washington, Winter 2016 transfers?

@NineBe I actually have not been checking that much the past few days, but it feels like I haven’t checked in weeks! I hope it’s soon because my already-extended deadline for UWB is Monday :frowning: I have a feeling we’ll hear something by tomorrow night! If not, I’m going to sit in a corner and hibernate until we do

@Akeating hope all goes well! My adviser told me end of November , but seeing that Foster is already snding letters out, I am stinking that’s a rouse (: Good luck!!!

Not sure I’ll hear anything tomorrow night… or ever…

I’m gonna be married, with grandchildren, in a nursing home by the time I hear back from UW … seriously

Can’t imagine how they expect transfer students to prepare for going to an entirely new school with a month’s notice :open_mouth:

I agree @snailshellz ! Especially for us OOS students :frowning:

Luckily they said they have a lot of housing !

Ugh I hope I get a letter soon rejection or acceptance just so I know :frowning:

Friday the 13th

Going to be good luck for all of us.

So none of us besides the Foster students really knows anything. At this point, I guess that’s good. Where I’ll really be sweating thinking about it is if you all hear something and I don’t. :-S

Last I heard, that open majors are sent last, end of November beginning of December. In the summer people were getting their notices well into July. so we have at least another week if not more. :frowning:

Hey guys! I’m new to the thread but I’ve been following for a little while. :slight_smile:

Just to make sure, those of us who are non-fosters students still have not had their transcript upload, received any emails, or seen any changes to MyUW, correct?

@danigirl91 correct for me!

@NineBe Good to know!

I applied to Foster’s but was denied admission because they wouldn’t count my AP English credit for an English composition course. Now, I’m hoping I’ll still get in to general admission. I’m just not sure if they’ll consider me as an open major or a pre-business major? So nerve-racking!

Good luck everyone!

@ninebe When I talked to the super vague and evil UW admissions folks, they indicated that open majors/GA should be hearing back in mid-to-late November. UW admissions was pretty adamant to me that the December notification period is more of a “buffer zone” for competitive major decisions. I really hope we don’t hear back that late!

And yes @danigirl91 that’s been the case so far on this thread.

Hey guys! I’m new to the thread but wish I knew about it earlier because I have spent the last couple months worrying constantly about whether or not I will get in. What is that transcript trick everyone is talking about?

@Leibnizzzzz The transcript trick is on myUW. Going to the Admissions tab, on the right there should be a link called “Unofficial UW Transcript” in the box labeled “After Being Admitted, Seattle.”

If it loads with a student ID number and your chosen major/college, you’re in. If it doesn’t load, a page comes up saying “Error 500”. Lots of people get acceptance letters without a transcript loading, so it’s not a definite answer if it doesn’t load.

Tbh the transcript trick is just a source of stress.

Oh okay. I just tried it and it said error
:expressionless:

@Leibnizzzzz apparently when you are accepted your transcript gets loaded.

Yep. It says error for me too of course… :(|)

Well, last year the next batch of acceptances were sent out on the second Friday of November, which would be today this year. So if it’s like last year, maybe we will get some acceptances today… but I have no hope anymore hahaha

Also, I read how some people on this forum had applied to UW Bothell n addition to UW Seattle. I heard that if you are admitted to one of the UW campuses, you can take any class at one of the other UW campuses. So if you are admitted to UW Bothell but denied to UW Seattle, you can still take all your classes at UW Seattle. I would still wait to see whether or not you are admitted to Seattle before you confirm Bothell, however.

@snailshellz I talked with one women who works at UW admissions a week ago and she said that they just barely began sending out letters. She said, though it is uncommon, some people are even notified at

at the end of December :confused:

I wonder if we talked to the same person! I talked to a UW admissions officer a couple weeks ago and she told me basically the same thing, but said that most will hear back before the end of November.

I’ve found UW admissions to be unhelpful. They basically just repeat what the website says and sometimes say stuff that is incorrect… like when I called a week ago the woman who answered said that everyone should hear back at the same time and had to check with a colleague before she told me that acceptances are mailed out in batches. :expressionless:

I don’t understand why the admissions office is so vague! I don’t see how it would compromise the admissions process to send everyone an email saying you should expect your decision by X date, or explicitly identifying which majors will hear back first… I mean, we’re prospective students, I don’t see why we have to be given the runaround like we’re being sold the Brooklyn Bridge, you know?

I’m super frustrated and negative nancy at this point though. Good luck to everyone hope we hear back today!!
