I’ve been getting a heart attack from getting a white letter with my mail for the past few weeks I have to accept UWB by Tuesday… So I guess I’m going to have to pay that 100$
@Akeating I am in a similar situation, I was accepted to Washington State University about a month ago. It is my second option if I don’t get accepted to UW, but I was supposed to respond three weeks after they notified me of admission. I emailed them and they said as long as I respond before December 1, I am okay but UW’s notification time is from November - December, so I’m really worried. If I don’t hear back by November 24th, I thought I might email UW’s admission office and ask them if they could let me know before December 1st, what do you think about that? I don’t want to make them angry, but I kinda need to know…
I submitted my UW Bothell application on the due date does anyone know how long they usually take to make a decision and get back to you?
@Leibnizzzzz that’s my plan too. I had emailed WSU after being accepted and they told me that we pretty much have up until classes start to accept, but the sooner the better. I wish UW would hurry up!!! I’m reeeally hoping for something next week if not today or tomorrow’
@megandIr do we have until classes start? That would be good. I just wish UW would hurry up so that I can start getting housing and stuff ready for WSU. It’s been so hard to focus this quarter in school because others who are transferring this winter already have things figured out and are preparing to move. I don’t even know where I’m going for Pete’s sake. I applied to Montana State University about a month and a half after I applied to UW and they accepted me probably three weeks ago
@Leibnizzzzz I really think we’ll hear back before December 1st! My adviser said you can accept the college’s offer & pay to confirm, then withdraw if you hear back afterwards… Not sure how true that is but i’m going to have to trust her on that one
Also I really don’t think you can just call and demand them to tell you whether you’re accepted or not no matter what your situation is. They’ll get to your application when they get to it, there’s nothing you can do but wait. Just keep checking your unofficial transcript to try and know sooner than via mail
@Akeating one of the things I was wondering is if we could accept admission and then possibly deny it later on, I’m glad your counselor said we can! I think we will hear back before December 1st, it seems that most applicants do, and in case I don’t hear anything by late November, I will go ahead and accept WSU and then maybe cancel it if UW ends up accepting me. Did you all apply anywhere else by any chance?
@Leibnizzzzz That’s what I was told! It is very frustrating!! I’m holding off on replying to WSU until I hear from UW given my parents prefer I go to UW a lot more than WSU. Basically, the choice isn’t mine so the only way I’d go to WSU is if I don’t get into UW. At this point I don’t even care if it’s a rejection. I just want to know something!!
@megandIr do you have a preference on where you want to go? Do your parents care a ton if you go to UW or not?
@Leibnizzzzz for what I’m doing (premed) UW is preferable. Parents will be thrilled if I get into UW, but if I don’t, not a huge deal. You get out of college what you put into it.
@megandIr I see. I think we both are in a pretty good situation given the fact we were accepted to WSU. At least we will be able to achieve our degrees regardless. There were a few things that appealed to me about WSU. One of them specifically was how much more competitive UW is than WSU. I don’t know if you know this, but UW grades on a curve 100% of the time, which could be either beneficial or a bad thing. Also, at UW a lot of classes are taught by graduate students, and a couple of my friends who go there say they think they got a better education at the CC I’m currently at. They just really try to weed out those who are not good at a subject at UW. UW has a higher graduation rate, however, so I would still prefer UW
@Leibnizzzzz Only UW Seattle and UW Bothell.
I’m kind of scared that if I accept Bothell’s then they’ll just be like “Ehh he’s already going to go to a UW school we don’t need to accept him into Seattle” :))
@Leibnizzzzz I have thought about how much more competitive UW is which slightly worries me. I also happen to know that a lot of classes at WSU are also taught by grad students. I have a friend who is experiencing this now, also not to mention he/she has a very strong Asian accent which according to my friend, kind of makes it pointless to go to class; but I’m sure not all classes are like this. Well, I hope you’re happy and do well wherever you end up going! Maybe we’ll end up at the same school! Kind of exciting to think about! Come on, UW!!! You’re killing us!
@Akeating and @megandIr wish you two the best of luck! I hope we all get accepted, we could end up at the same school! Keep me updated on what happens
Does anyone know if its possible that we get notified on the weekend? (transcript trick)
@Leibnizzzzz Thank you, you too! High hopes for all of us
@Akeating In past threads, didn’t seem to me like anyone got notified on the weekend!
@Leibnizzzzz I’m guessing from your name you have taken calc/are doing a STEM major? (lol, sorry if not) But anyway I have heard that most STEM classes at UW are curved, but not all classes are curved. I am not 100% sure, but I have read that beyond Math 324 (Advanced Multivariable Calculus) classes aren’t curved anymore. It’s mostly just the weed out classes that are curved… and also, some classes are “set” at a worse curve than others… for example the Chem series is set at a 2.8 average, while other classes are set at a 3.2 average.
I got all this info from a popular site for UW students, not sure if I’m allowed to mention the name, but I’ve gotten a lot of interesting info from there!
@snailshellz I am going into a STEM field as a matter of fact haha (I’m going into math). If what you’re saying is true, that makes me relieved! I have already completed all of calculus so it looks like if I get accepted, I will not have to take many weed-out classes thanks for letting me know that!
@Leibnizzzzz oh sweet, I plan to major in math too!
I’m a little worried about having to apply for the math major, but I don’t think it is nearly as competitive as some other majors (supposedly a ~70% acceptance rate). My GPA is 3.78, and like 3.91 in the math classes I’ve taken, but I don’t know how a CC GPA looks to the UW math department. Haha.
@snailshellz me too, and if I get accepted I may be applying for the Applied and Computational Mathematics Department, which is even more difficult to get into so how many math classes have you completed? After this quarter I will have completed calculus and linear algebra, and I was worried that maybe I should have applied for the program this fall. Were you planning to apply this winter? I know the application for the math program is only open in fall and winter
Accepting UW Bothell tomorrow since it’s due
