how much of an importance does PSU put on solid medical ECs?
and do they require SAT chem?

Hello, everyone. I'm new to this site and this thread, but right now I'm really interested in this program. One thing I was wondering, do the accelerated programs kind of hurt your chances when applying for residencies, as compared to, say, a person who did 4 years undergrad and then 4 years medical school? Thanks.

Oops, i meant like Top residency programs in areas like cardiology or neuroscience (like at John Hopkins, for example).

is it a absolute necessity to be top 10%? cause im like top 12...

to az, my brother was in that program and theyre application is short. they give u an essay if u make it past round 1, which is straight up scores, 1450 sat and top 10%. im not sure how lenient programs are towards scores and stuff, which I'm in the same position as you are, but i am pretty sure penn state is more score oriented

lest hope so, cause my class was though, missed it by like a few ranks. Sat/act wise, I think im good, do you know what the essay topic is?

the 6-year programe is true, I asked the admission officers. 2-year on main campus, another 4 years at Jefferson medical center in philadelphia. but it's very competitive!

do OOS applicants have a lot lower chance than in-state like the ohio programs?

does anyone know? will top 12% make the cut?

i think they are pretty strict about the cutoffs. someone from this thread said his/her application wasnt even looked at because he/she missed the sat cutoff by 10 pts.

=p there go my hopes...

Hey. I'm in this program now and I have legacy here as well.
The SAT/ACT scores are very important. And they have no preference for either one. So if you get a 36 on the ACT, they will calculate it as 2400 SAT. If you get 35 on the ACT, then they will calculate it as like 23-- something.

Just to be on the Safe side, get over a 4.0 gpa
and class rank, everyone i talked to was top 1~5% in their class. But they should take into consideration that some schools, it's more difficult to be on the top.

While I was applying to PSU and while the other ppl in my family were applying here,
we thought that SAT/ACT scores are the most important.

if you have any other questions, just PM me! :)

ok so how do I go about applying? Can someone post a link or something? (I'm also an international student so I don't know too much about the system etc)

does anyone know whether this program considers ur ACT composite score or just ur math and english scores?

The do consider the ACT composite scores

Hey guys!
I was interested in applying to Penn State's accelerated pre-med program with Thomas Jefferson...I was wondering if anyone would mind chancing me for the program...Here's the bulk of my statistics...[Please be brutal!]

[Due to the limited nature of AP courses available at my school, this was the maximum amount that was offered...this is the first year they actually instated AP Bio, for example, which speak volumes about our school...urg]

Replies appreciated! :)

youre in if you dont mess up essays or interviews.

adashofdopamine- you have an excellent chance...

question: where do we send the letter of recommendation and our resume specifically for the program? do we send it to the regular psu undergrad office?

I think the essays are the only component of the application that are specifically going to be a point of interest for the admissions officers for the accelerated program (in addition to the SAT scores)...so I would think that the recommendation and resume would be sent to the regular PSU undergrad office as well.

Is there anyone out there who is already in the program?

what are the specialities of this pgm?
do you guys meet as a grp regularly?
is there some volunteering that is required while u r in the program?
what do u like abt penn stae?
