Purdue Early Action for Fall 2023 Admission

Definitely not the same as the main campus. I would not consider it as an option as an international student. Or otherwise.

Did NC state already release decisions?

Congrats. It’s a really good school for engineering.

About 1.5 hours after we found out the decision from the portal. Both student and parent received congrats email. If this is how college admission offices do in general, we may not have to keep checking portals on the decision day, just wait for the email?
The student email was rather short, with some new login name etc. The parent email was slightly longer which said “We offer admission to only the best and brightest students who have a combination of academic achievement and leadership potential — students just like xxx”. I am curious if this is the standard phrasing for all the emails to parents.
My son is by far not the best in academics compared to some of the deferred applicants in this thread. There is some leadership but it pales compared to one of the deferred students in this thread who ran his own business.
I am starting to believe this “yield protection” thing but how would AO know a high stats student would for sure get into better schools and not attend this one. The University of California system does not look at test scores, so no one can assure a student which one of the 9 campuses will admit.
I really feel the frustration of the highly achieving students who are not accepted yet and wish them the best luck in the coming months!

We got the same worded email. I don’t think this is the norm for most schools-to send an email to parents, usually the student will get one only. I thought it was a nice touch.

I’d be interested to know if those emails to parents go out if the student didn’t login to their portal and click on the acceptance decision? Sometimes those follow up emails to parents are auto generated once the student has officially checked their acceptance status. At least for the accepted students.

Just another parent of an OOS/35 ACT male rejected from FYE. Purdue needs to update their guidance on 50percentile of acceptance. Giving these kids false sense of hope. No one is reading these essays. With 50,000 applications they are just using select statements on a database.

I’m sorry. I’m hopeful with those awesome statistics that your son will find another great college.

For international students it is rolling . Received decision on 20th Dec

Any idea if it is possible to switch from Data Science to Computer Science given they are within the same school and department?

My son got accepted to College of Engineering, honor college.

The admissions office will not change that on request. You can accept the offer and try to transfer programs (or CODO as Purdue calls it) once enrolled but CS has capacity constraints and CS course registration goes to CS majors first. I recommend reading about CODO and CS at the Purdue website and/or contacting the dept.
