I don’t know what Reed admissions thinks they are doing, but my son (WL as well) is not jumping through any more hoops for a chance at Reed. Considering he has significant financial need, making it less likely he would come off the WL, and that he has great offers from both UCB and WashU, he is moving on. Good luck to all who are still hopeful; it sounds like some of you may yet get in. Reed is a great college for many, but the admissions process is seriously wacky.
Waitlisted. Kinda heart-broken since Reed has always been my first choice. Will do anything I can to get myself there, despite my meager contribution.
Guys, if you somehow got waitlisted and accepted and Reed is not all that appealing to you, please make your decision quickly then email them to deny their offer/opt out of the waitlist. I know that it’s riddiculous of me to ask you guys such a favor, but really, that’s gonna help me and other WL peers very much.
Good luck to everyone, and it’s been fun reading 550 more new posts since last night. You guys are damn funny and awesome.
Rejected by email last night at 8:00 pm. Moving on to my first choice, Willamette University… still bummed at not being wanted by Reed. It is always better to reject than be rejected. Good luck to all!
So has everyone received a decision at this point? I feel like they didn’t admit nearly as many as usual…
@london2va I’m still waiting. No email. No letter. No package. Nothing. I already sent them an email to see what’s going on, but I haven’t gotten a response yet.
Ughhh I’m still waiting too
still haven’t received anything from Reed and it’s 10:00 am… i’m not expecting anything anyways but what is going on
245 PM EST, and I have still to hear back. If they want to reject me, then they might as well get it over with. :((
This is so irritating. I just want to know has anyone called yet?
Maybe something will come in the mail for you guys later today? Have you checked your junk/spam boxes?
I’m going to call them up if I don’t get anything in the mail when my mailman comes by.
It’s unfair to keep us waiting like this.
I called just now & the line didn’t go through because it was busy. Ugh
I just called. They said to sit tight, decisions are still being “sent out.” They didn’t specify whether those decisions were to reach us through the mail or by email, but said we should be receiving a decision in the next couple of days.
To everyone already accepted, I just saw on one of the FB pages that everyone should have their financial aid packages available to see tomorrow.
Still nothing, this is beyond ridiculous
Still waiting. This is beyond ridiculous now. It’s so unfair that certain people got emails, while others didn’t. Admissions office is also speaking in riddles. I definitely wish they had simply released the decisions on one day, using one method.
It is really beyond the pale that you and several others on the board haven’t gotten a decision. Reed does seem to have notified everyone by email, with accepted students getting Fedex packages later. In your position, if you’re not international, I think I would call admissions, tell them you haven’t received s decision, and that you’ll hold while they look it up so they can give you one now. I can see where it would be hard to move on when you don’t have an answer from Reed. Good luck.
Man this sucks. As stupid as it sounds, I don’t want to ask them to look it up because I’m sure I’ve been rejected. But ughh I really should though because I cant wait any longer.
My daughter hasn’t received a decision either. It’s kind of almost like being on the wait list because she needs to move on and make other plans. The month is already booked out for visitations. For some reason they had a hard time getting her transcript so in all fairness they told her it might come “after the deadline”
Congrats to the accepted and sorry that this round of admissions seems to have been so poorly managed by Reed! I’m sure getting a record number of applications had something to do with it–maybe the admission office was not sure how many people to admit because of volatile yield projections, or maybe it was simply understaffed and struggled to finish reviewing applications on time. Also, a senior admission officer left Reed amidst a minor campus controversy in the middle of the year, which might have soured the atmosphere in the office and made work there harder. I don’t know.
I’m not trying to make excuses for the unprofessional way this cycle has concluded, but I thought you guys might appreciate some informed speculation on why you were kept in the dark so long.
