If it makes you feel better lithiumbromide, I didn't get an interview either.

Is this California residents exclusive?

I believe this is for all applicants. "All prospective students who apply to UC Berkeley for fall admission from high school or from a California community college are considered automatically for the Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship. There is no separate application." For more information, visit http://students.berkeley.edu/fao/scholarships/RCSscholars.html .

i don't think we had to apply, i just got the packet in the mail.

no problemo, jc. Glad to be of service. =D

So when are your interviews? Mine is Wednesday the 16th; dunno if I'll do overnight before or after.

staticsoliloquy- thanks for letting me know that they'll award more ppl even if i got it and declined. anyways i doubt i'd get the scholarship anyways, and it is only $1000 since my parents probably make enough to not qualify us for need based part of the scholarship. it isn't worth interviewing for such a small amount of money. im 99% sure im going to stanford, and unless they offer a full scholarship, which they wont, i wont even bother with berkeley. anyways good luck to all you guys.

ya that's good logic bri. for me, this scholarship would be a full ride because my family makes (and i'm not joking) 5,000 a year, and that's rounding up. We're on welfare and food stamps and such.

i got one today too! i'm from so cal...my interview is on 19th. but i can't figure out where it's at. how many people get these? 1000 or 250?

1000 people get to interview but only 200 entering students will be a R&C scholar

Hey guys!

OMG! I can't believe I got this envelope. I really thought that people who are considered for an interview has to have CRAZY HIGH SAT scores, but apparently, I got it! WOAHH.

1,000 students chosen out of 40,000? Is that right? I'm not even sure of the number. OMG! I can't believe. We're basically guaranteed for admission. Why would they consider you for the TOP SCHOLARSHIP AT THE SCHOOL and say "WE WANT YOU!" and offer you money (or a chance to GET money) if they don't want you here.

SUNKIST: yes all people are considered for it, but only 1,000 are chosen to be interviewed.

I don't know what I am going to choose if I get REgents at Berkeley, get into Stanford, and get into Harvard. I'll be so confused. haha, but this is considering i GET into those schools. If I don't, then oh well! hahaha It'll make my choice a lot easier! EEK! jinxed myself there.

April 1st, 2005! That's when our lives will drastically change.

Mine is on March 5, 2005 at 9:00 A.M! I have to see you guys there.

Garou, it's March 5 in LA, so no way to combine with overnight anyway (one less decision, lol). I plan on the one in April, but I'd probably go sooner if I lived closer.

It doesn't say anything on myBerkeleyApp...now I'm sad...

Well, it's like someone said 1000 are chosen out of 40000. That's crazy. So don't feel bad that you didn't get it.

my stats:
ACT: 34
SAT: 1480
SAT iis: 800wr, 780iic, 740chem
-4.0 unweighted gpa; i'm not sure how to calculate UC gpa
-i also have lots of e.cs and volunteer work

i live about twenty minutes from the Berkeley campus and i've spent my past three summers there, so i won't be going on the campus tour or anything like that.

I....didn't get one.

Now my nervousness level of getting accepted shot up by +50. Ack!

Don't freak! Cal admits what, like 10,000 applicants? You have plenty o' chance. And that goes for all y'all.

jc--ah, ok. Good luck to ya then!

I live in SoCal and while I haven't gotten anything, my friend has. Eh, I'm still hoping that letters are being sent out. But it seems sort of arbitary sometimes, cuz my friend has better stats than me, but she didn't get invited for the UCLA regent scholarship, and I did.

Yeah...I didn't get the UCLA Regent scholarship either. I don't know why I got Berkeley's and not UCLA. Oh well, it's just kind of interesting/weird.

UCLA and Berkeley have different criteria. They look for different things. It's like how some people get into Berkeley and not LA or the other way around.

My guess is that UCLA goes more by quantitative data, and UCB gets deeper into the entire app. That would explain why it takes UCB so much longer to come up with results. Then also, UCLA refers only to "academic record," then Berkeley refers to "demonstrated academic merit, stellar personal qualities, and scholastic promise." So the Berkeley one seems more demanding, which is why I really don't understand why anyone getting the Berkeley one wouldn't get both, ... unless the sheer quantity of UCLA apps forces a kinda random cut-off for the UCLA one.
