AHH UVAorBust - Ricky was my tour guide during my transfer tour!! He’s awesome!

Lol, he really was brishe I didn’t have a chance to fill out the survey (it was pouring out!). Did you have a chance to meet Dean J brishe?

I had to leave early today and didn’t see UVAorBust D:

But I think you might be amused by the fact that someone else’s parents asked Dean J whether she’s met you yet.

lullinatalk - that is actually very funny. I met with Dean J as everyone else was starting to file into Cabell Hall. She was very nice to talk to :D

I was wearing a blue North Face fleece, dark jeans, and pink Sperrys.

^^ North Face? Sperrys? Gasp! I thought she was middle-aged!

Why can’t anybody seem to solve the mystery that is Dean J? :p

coolpg, I was wearing those items lol :D

However, Dean J was pretty young as well lol

Dean J, I will be wearing a long sleeve blue collared shirt, dark jeans, and umm… Running shoes. I am Indian and will be sporting a horribly groomed goatee. =D

That is basically what everyone was wearing wofbharatj :). I think I was the only male in the joint wearing pink Sperrys lol.

Everyone sported horribly groomed goatees…? Man… I’m such a lemming, ugh. =[

Ohh, not the goatee :)

Hehehe my bad :)

I love how this turned from a discussion about restaurants to what we plan on wearing while meeting Dean J! Haha :D

Or while we met Dean J :)

I’ve still got to write a post I’ve been holding off for a while. Going to take me like an hour lol ;)

<a href=“Stayin' Alive - Bee Gees (lyrics) - YouTube”>Stayin' Alive - Bee Gees (lyrics) - YouTube;

Haha oh boy! I can’t wait to read it when you’re done (;
Bee Gees? Random, yet spectacular! I love those guys! :D

HAHAHAHA can I please say how hilarious it is that somebody at/visiting UVA tried to distinguish themselves by wearing a North Face and sperrys?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I think NOT wearing a North Face would make you stand out here!

New/Prospective students aren’t the only ones tickled to see Dean J and Cav Dog. I was on Grounds Friday, and as we drove across University Avenue to an event on the Lawn Friday evening I spotted Dean J in her kelly green coat with Cav Dog in tow crossing the street. Dean J, thanks for all you do for the University!

shillyshally,

I was wondering how vegan friendly UVa’s dining halls are. After seeing the other posts on here, I have no doubt that Cville has a wide selection for vegans; however, I’m a bit concerned about the dining halls, especially since several students complain about getting bored with the selection. After all, if omnivores get bored with it quickly, a vegan will definitely find the selections unbearably monotonous!

Could anyone comment on the vegan-friendly options on Grounds?

From Campus Dish, FAQ:

[Welcome to CampusDish at University of Virginia!](http://campusdish.com/en-US/CSMA/Virginia/DiningPlans/FrequentlyAskedQuestions.htm)

From what I understand Runk has the best selection.

NOTE: I just checked today’s dinner menu and OHill looks like it has good options.

I’m not a vegetarian or vegan, but I chose the v/v options because they looked good when I ate lunch at O-Hill Saturday during DOTL. I had jambalaya, black beans, rice and a salad. The jambalaya and black beans were absolutely delicious. (The rice was rice.) You’ll still want input from others as to variety, but my one meal was great!

Near the v/v options was a sign for a Greek salad, so I asked the person behind the counter about it. She said that the sign was put up by mistake, but that if I had a minute she’d make me a Greek salad anyway. I declined, but was impressed that she was willing to do so.

coolpg, I can’t say there will always be a ton of options but there is certainly variety and someold stand-bys for those times when it seems the dining hall has been taken over by a non-vegan theme night On those nights my D opts for salad or cereal or something in her room but she also is fairly picky and not as opt to choose a veggie burger or similar though those are regular options. She does think Runk is the best, especially for their salad bar but she prefers the vegan chili at o’hill I think. I’ve only eaten at Newcomb during orientation and LOVED the nacho bar because they had veggie taco crumbles, veggie chili and chips, salsa, etc so I made a great plate of nachos that was yummy.

With any dining hall you will get tired of the food over time but honestly I think no matter where you are you can get tired of the same options all the time but that’s the nice part about breaks - finding non-college food :)

I know as vegans we are used to more limited options but don’t feel you will truly be limited in the options! I know too they do vegan pancakes and such at O’hill although my daughter hasn’t tried them because she doesn’t like pancakes which boggles my mind She and we have been very impressed at how easy it has been for her to be vegan at college so UVA really does make an effort to have options for everyone which is great because she is vegan due to allergies/health issues and it has made all the difference for her!

Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown, da baddest man in the whole damned town! badder than o’le king kong, meaner than a junk yard dog!

I just can’t wait to go back to the grounds. I’m so ready for college to start!
