LMAO. It’s anything but fake. I’ve just been an observer up until this point.
I applied this year, first time out of last few years of telling myself I wasn’t worth it and not applying, hence my positivity on first post. ?
Do they send out interview invitations for veterans and non-veterans at the same time or are they staggered? Are there any non-veteran applicants that can chime in about whether or not they’ve been invited to interview?
@sonalli non-veteran, no interview invitation (yet?)
@bluepeony I’m hanging on to an optimistic “yet” as well! Fingers crossed for us both!
I am the father of a Brown freshman. Something about the following comment on this thread resonated with me “telling myself I wasn’t worth it and not applying”.
While I hardly know all of your narratives and back stories, I can assure each of you that your real life experiences, determination under “non traditional” pressures to pursue educational opportunities, and in some cases military service suggest you are all both “worthy” and able to contribute in a meaningful way to the Brown community. I would take great pride and comfort knowing my kid was shoulder to shoulder with adults such as yourselves.
So with that I wish you all good luck! I am very familiar with the school and surrounding area…if I can help any of you please feel free to PM me.
@Nocreativity1 I woke up today sick and gloomy. This is just what I needed. Thanks for the positive post!
@Nocreativity1 thanks for the post. It took me a while to take the leap and I’m glad I did. Literally, applying in and of itself has felt rewarding. I have a ton of perspective and life experience to offer. I’m wishing everyone the best of luck!!
thank you @Nocreativity1 for your kind words and yay for your son!
@SproutedChiaPet… and the award for the best user name ever goes to…
@Nocreativity1 LOL thank you… it’s based off of my first ever screenname from back in antiquity when dial-up and AIM was the coolest new thing ? I was young and it wasn’t exactly mature or appropriate (sexychiapet969) so when thinking of a screen name for the first time in years, i gave a little nod to where I came from and who i’ve become… didn’t expect to share that, but it’s kind of a cool backstory.
I got an interview request from Mandy. Anyone else got an interview or finished theirs?
@brightmontana you just got the invite yesterday?
I love the solidarity in this thread!
I was emailed last Saturday about interview. Had interview this Wednesday evening. I’m a veteran though so it was expected. I’m not sure about non veterans. I wish they interviewed everyone.
@AM2Z91 Agreed! I’m glad we have a place to talk to each other so we’re not all left wondering.
@Forwardbound2020 I wish they interviewed everyone too or at least notified people that they were not going to be offered an interview.
@Forwardbound2020 sorry about the suspicion earlier in the thread. I didn’t realize you were military and saw that the account was brand new and became mighty skeptical thinking that non-military folks were still waiting for invites so it was weird that someone already interviewed LOL.
@bluepeony I saw on last year’s rue thread that @IndirectProofs emailed admissions and people can still be accepted without an interview
I’m wondering is if acceptance/rejection is still done in the mail or if portals will update.
@sproutedchiapet its okay, ha! I saw everyone was asking about interviews and thought I’d register and give an update.
From what I’ve read, for a non-vet, not getting an interview can be a good sign. My interviewer said she gets notified about interview, needs it done by a certain day, and has to fill out a questionnaire and submit to the school. She said the purpose is more to get another perspective of me and of the school rather than use it to determine acceptance.
I’m really curious on when results are going to come in. Any ideas?
I think first/second week in May and from what I’ve read, they’re mailed.
@thestandard Yea. It’s kinda funny because I’m an international student and immediately I updated them that I won the JKC scholarship the next moment was an interview. I feel an interview is a good sign. I reached out to another RUE non-vet student minutes ago, he said that he was interviewed during his time which was two years ago. Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone.
