**SAT 2 Biology Discussion Thread Oct 2015**

How as the test in general?

@gegri123 YES I TOTALLY GUESSED ON THAT ONE

Skipped 4, but could’ve gotten like 5-10 more wrong. Does that mean that I have a chance at over 700 or no?

@blargenshmargen Best case you’re looking at around a 740. Worst case (with 10 wrong) is probably a flat 700.

can someone explain the 2/3 and 1/3 question? Also do u remember what you put for the last question about TAT gene?

@greysanatomy3113 okay so since the mutation is single-gene, think of it as x and think of the unaffected gene as a. when you have two affected parents, their genotype is ax. crossing ax and ax would come out as aa, ax, ax, and xx. since 2/3 of the children are affected (ax) and 1/3 aren’t (aa), you can assume that the xx zygotes aren’t born and therefore aren’t viable.

TAT gene question was I and III.

Curve prediction?

@greysanatomy3113 The very last one? If a transcription (not sure about exact wording) inhibitor was added then neither mRNA nor proteins could be produced.

Wait that was not the last question though was it? I am talking about the one that had an answer choice that neither the TAT gene or the Tat mRNA would be produced. @potterismylife

@greysanatomy3113 oops sorry, the answer to that one would be that neither one would be produced

Yay that’s what I put haha!

sorry, but what did y’all get with the measuring productivity question?

I think biomass but idk. Probably got it wrong

i put biomass too

ok

hey guys, what did u put for the last question in the common exam? (the one about most likely to get fever)

I put trophic level

The ph and tree questions were by far the hardest. I thought it was easy for the most part tho

“In ecology, productivity or production refers to the rate of generation of biomass in an ecosystem” (Wikipedia).

@daviinye If someone has a fever then their WBC count would be high.

okay thx! @zxcvbnm1216 i thought so too! what did u put for the last question about improvement of the experiment?
