@satisreaper That information should be in the body of the letter you received. I know in the excitement of seeing numbers, it’s hard to remember to actually read the words! Lol. But I’m fairly sure you’ll find it on there
Isn’t $36,000 more than tuition? What type of scholarship did you receive?
I know, that’s why i’m confused. They don’t even mention the name of the scholarship. I just sent them an email to check the authenticity of the scholarship.
My D had the same wording in her acceptance email (different $ amount though). Still waiting for her actual snail mail letter to see what scholarship it is & if it is in fact renewable for all 4 years.
DD got 8000 explicitly worded at 2k/year. 1230 SAT CR/M between 10th and 20th percentile in class rank.
i have a 27 and a 3.6 with 10 AP and Honors classes, if i havent heard back for a scholarship by now am i probably not going to get one. I am OOS and i really need to cut the tuition down even if its just a little, should i talk to them?
I got a $33,000 award for the 2016-17 academic year but I still need more since the costs of living in Miami is high during breaks which my parents can’t afford it. I have asked them for additional scholarship and were told that I would be informed during late April. Hope I can get some money, even a little as 2k/year would be ok as I really love Miami and couldn’t take it if I couldn’t go to MU :(((.
While hunting around for a piece of mail my DH misplaced, I found a small envelope for Miami that had fallen behind a radiator - guess what, it was my son’s preliminary scholarship letter! He received a very generous $22,000 per year for four years! We are OOS, so this is still quite expensive, but it has moved Miami into the running and we are looking forward to visiting the campus as soon as all this snow ends!
@JKrazney2 My son is just a junior, but we’re planning to visit soon while the snow is still on the ground. I want him to know what he might be getting himself into.
We live in Maryland, so we are quite familiar with snow! I hope you enjoy your visit - it has a reputation of being a wonderful campus.
Anybody in Vietnam receive their package yet?
Anyone hear back about Stamps scholarship? Does anyone know when students could be notified about Stamps?
Haven’t heard anything more on Miami Stamps, although the Miami website used to say 5 will be nominated, and now it says “up to 10” candidates will be nominated. Otherwise, the only things I have heard are that the nominees will be chosen from among those students selected for the University Academic Scholars Program (UASP), and that the apparently now 10 nominees will be contacted mid-to-late February for telephone interviews with the Stamps Foundation. It is “mid-to-late February” now, so it’s possible that the nominees have already been contacted. My guess is that if you haven’t heard anything by the end of the week, then you haven’t been nominated.
I called and was told they would contact students early to mid March. How about if someone else calls to verify…
We were also told this week it would be by mid March at the latest, early to mid March target range. Didn’t ask why the change from end of Feb originally published on their website though.
Since Stamps nomination comes from the UASP pool, does anyone happen to know how many students are actually in the freshman scholars program? The target #, that is?
The only #s I can find are older from just as MU started/established the program & I don’t think they apply any longer. I’ve seen 500 Honors, 200 Scholars as well as the reverse of 200 Honors & 500 Scholars.
Anyone happen to know?
Any updates on Stamps?
@RCAA2016 I haven’t seen or head of any updates by anyone.
Anyone happen to know how notification of selection is delivered? Email, snail mail, phone call? We’re definitely not holding our breath, but until mid-March it’d be good to know what to double check in addition to all the other details needing double checked this time of year.
My Daughter received an email with an invitation to apply for the LSAMP program. Does anyone here know if that has any scholarship attached to it as well? After reading the Miami website data, I am assuming not, however thought I would ask.
@snydertech It does say there is a stipend for active participants each term, although it doesn’t reference a scholarship.
