I got rejected from UScholar’s med program and both engineering scholarships? Do I even have a chance at RD anymore?

Can you post your stats? Thank you!

I’d prefer not to list my stats although I would be happy to let you know I have a 2300+ SAT and pretty good ECs. Is there something particular you are interested in because I didn’t recieve a WashU Scholarship. Hope I could help. :)

I got rejected from UScholar’s med program and both engineering scholarships? Do I even have a chance at RD anymore?

DarkKnight, I would imagine that too many people apply for these scholarships to read into this about your chances for RD!

Of course you have a chance, Dark Knight. Keep in mind that less than 3% of the applicants or whatever get those calls for those scholarships! As WashU says in its rejection statement there are few scholarships.

Or WashU will just get Tufts Syndrome and waitlist overqualified applicants.

Wash U definitely has Tufts Syndrome. A girl from our school was wait listed last year, and proceeded to get admissions offers from several ivy league schools come April 1st. She was pretty upset with the Wash U decision, but in the end it worked out fine for her.

Also rejected from University Scholars Program. I didn’t realize they only accept like five kids each year…

DarkKnight666 - The scholarship decision effects only one thing - either you were awarded one or not. It has no effect on your admission outcome. Scholarship decisions are made by scholarship committees which are independent of the admissions department. You might even have a better chance, since applying for a scholarship shows interest in the school. Good luck.

please stop with this utter nonsense of “tufts syndrome” and “overqualified applicants.” i take personal offense to it, as it implies that one is overqualified for the college that I attend. if you firmly believe this, then don’t apply. take any waitlist or rejection with humility, and don’t even try to analyze why one person out of 20,000+ applications wasn’t accepted and then imbue the college with a negative and ultimately unfounded quality.

wash u doesn’t waitlist overqualified students nor does tufts. both colleges (and all other highly selective colleges) waitlist, accept, and reject QUALIFIED students. asserting that there are overqualified students in the applicant pool is not only an insult to the college the kid applies to, but an insult to himself/herself for even applying in the first place.

most importantly, though, complaining on this forum about not being chosen for admission or for a scholarship is futile and does nothing to forward a positive and informed discussion – what people come to college confidential for. if you are going to state something negative about a college or decision, at least back-up your logic and attempt to forward a conversation.

Congratulations, everyone, who did receive a scholarship! I, and every other Wash U student, look forward to you attending the best college in the country – one that I’m proud to call my home, and do not think that I’m over-qualified or under-qualified to attend. You’ll love it here.

Congrats to all the Ervin finalists! I recieved the full tuition Ervin in the ED pool, so I’m looking forward to seeing you all in March! But yeah, they give out both full and partials, but you find out if you got the full, partial, or not the scholarship after the interviews. There is a group on facebook for WashU admitted students, and since you all are scholarship finalists, you’re pretty much been accepted into the school. On the group there’s also a disscussion board for Ervin scholars. I would be free to accept any of you guys that are Ervin finalists on facebook. Here’s the link to the group: Ervin Scholars | Facebook

Disclaimer: I’m using my mom’s screenname. I’m a high school senior.

I applied RD at WashU, and I lost my Wustl login info, so I can’t see whether I won a Nemerov Scholarship…but today I got an email from WashU telling me to login to Wustl Pathway (If only it were so easy) because the scholarship results are up. Does this mean I got one? Has anyone received such an email, only to find that they did not, in fact, win a scholarship? Thanks.

I’m a Danforth Finalist and I too got that email (after the fact). But no, I think those emails are given out to everyone who applies to scholarships so that they know to check the website. Contact your representative by letter (your last name) and ask.

I didn’t get a scholarship but I am a Finalist for the University Scholars Program in Medicine. Again, I thinke everyone received those emails.

So…is it a known fact that people considered for the scholarships are pretty much guaranteed into the school??

I got rejected from the rodriguez, ervin and engineering scholarships.

I am kind of surprised. I thought I would at least make finalist for one of them. I have a 4.0 uw, IB diploma candidate, 2200 SAT, and 35 ACT and thought my essays were pretty good, especially for the engineering one.

The Ervin and Rodriguez especially are not all about stats. It is heavily based on how the committee feels a candidate fits into and will further the aims of the program. Not always an easy decision to make.

Hey everyone, I was rejected for Moog, Ervin, and Friends of Music. However, I was accepted into the summer scholars program for biology and biomedical research. I’m really excited!

ST2:

You mentioned that there is “merit-need” financial aid. Does this mean that the financial aid package takes into account merit as well as need even if you are rejected from the scholarship programs? I thought that if you don’t get the scholarships, then the rest was completely need-based… Thanks!

Not at all, I was just interested because you were one of the only ppl on College Confid. to get an invite for the USP medicine interview. Congratulations!

Does anyone know if all Rodriguez Scholars get some type of scholarship?
How many Rodriguez finalists are there and how many are selected for full tuition and half tuition scholarships? If one is a finalist, are they guarenteed at least half tuition?
