Well, I have English for the first time in three days tomorrow (because of field trips, illnesses, and guidance appointments, in case anyone was wondering =D), so I guess I'll find out then... maybe? Hopefully? I can't take the suspense!

you mean april 4th or 5th for the region at-large writing awards? that's forever! it's like three weeks from now/three months total! aaah!

incidentally, does anyone know when in june the national awards ceremony (in NYC) takes place? not that i have any delusions about my eligibility for said occasion...although i guess it'll be a while before i know for sure.

im a junior:
entered photos in regional: 1 certificate, 2 silver, 1 gold!!!!!!!!!! cant wait to hear back.

writing (region-at-large) (quote from previous thread):
"btw, i also submitted some poetry to the region at large. i've got two questions:

1) would anyone care to see it (i need their real email though b/c if i just insert it into the text box all the line breaks and stuff will get ruined; thus, i need to attach it)?

2) If I was supposed to submit it by January 8 and I Fedexed it on January 8 (b.c the post offices were closed by the time i had time to submit it (which is after school) with a date label and i fedexed it to the art and writing awards (b/c fedex doesnt work for p.o. boxes) with an 8.5X11 envelope inside addressed to the p.o. box work? Especailly b/c i reread the rules on the 9th and saw the word postmarked uinderlined! I know what i did sounds last minute but i had problems with getting a signature and stuff, so yea. Any responses would be great (i heard that the awards are kinda forgiving, but let me know). Anecdotes would be especially helpful!"

a guy from scholastic said he'd keep an eye out for it. that was like 2-3 months ago. i emailed them just to confirm about a week ago but i still have yet to receive a response.

oh wow, haha. i recall how my art teacher submitted one of my works without ASKING ME two years ago and telling me ONE YEAR LATER that i had won an silver key only after my name appeared in the newspaper...

congrats to all of you and good luck to those still waiting!

tryin2Bcool, congrats on your regional win!

it's so long, the wait is awful. :X

i think if the guy you contacted 2 months ago and said it was fine then it probably is... they're probably swamped with entries right now, sorting out which are winners, etc... it'll probably take a while before they answer you. don't worry about it too much though, there's not much you can do now (as you've already emailed them recently)...

I'm worried about the same thing... I sent my work to the post office on the day of the deadline... but I'm not sure whether it was postmarked or not, or if something else happened. I'm too scared to email them and ask if they received it, though...

I wonder if we get an email saying we didn't win everything... because I would hate to never get anything and have to gradually accept my failure =D

I live in NYC and I postmarked the entry (writing) on the last possible day also. >.< However, I did get an email saying that I was regionally recognized and will be receiving more details (awards, national recognition, etc) within three weeks. My classmate entered the Art competition and already knew that she has received the Silver Key award.

I don't know why it's taking so long for other regions to get back to the students, but my region told me within like a week or 2 if I got any awards (btw, I got a gold art portfolio, gold painting, silver painting, and an honorable mention). As for region-at-large writing awards, I called Scholastics and the guy said winners would be notified within the next two weeks.
Did anyone hear submit a novel? If so, do you know how many novels are typically received?

Agh...so I just found out that two people at my school (and one of my friends from a school nearby) have recieved gold keys in art. I hope that they don't release art and writing awards at the same time...

wuwei- i won an award last year in the novel category and they told me they got a few hundred entries. beyond that, i don't have any stats, but that's something.

Yeah guys. Just check the link honora posted. If your state has an affiliate (in other words, it doesn't say "Region At Large" below and instead lists a bunch of whatever), you're not in Region At Large.

Aaaaaah. I just want to know if RAL sent out stuff. XD
