should we expect letters in the mail this week!?

lostspaz18

what was it before?

Mine is still stuck at “We received the fall grades…April 1st” too, jackdaniels. Ughhh!

It seems that the next wave is happening now. Can anyone verify that their application status has changed to “Your application has been acted upon,” or does it not necessarily need to change before your letter is sent?

haha pfmichaels dont worry im on that status also… most likely we were just so damn good that they granted us admission without having to forward or anything…

some people on CC have mentioned that their status never really changed (or a few times, and by the time they received decisions, it wasn’t necessarily an “acted upon” status) and still got admitted…

haha randy1991, rockin that optimism! 101th post! =D

Ahh! Did anyone get a rejection email yet? A buddy of mine just did. I completely forgot that when I signed up for the account I used an email address that is now defunct, so I’m not sure if they did or didn’t send me an email as well.

i didn’t realize they sent rejection emails. I also thought usc notified the rejected applicants last.

what? usc doesn’t send rejection emails. rejection letters are all sent first week in april.
correct me if im wrong.

Trust me. THEY SEND REJECTION EMAILS!! He just forwarded me his. Here is the body of the email:

"Dear xxxxx,

Thank you for applying to the Film & Television Production MFA program. As you probably know, competition for admission to the School of Cinematic Arts is keen. Our limited facilities permit us to admit only a fraction of those who apply. This was a particularly competitive year in which we were only able to admit a limited number of applicants. Therefore it is with regret that we are not able to admit you for the Fall 2010 semester.

Because of the volume of applications we receive, we are not able to provide detailed explanations of why an applicant was not offered admission, nor does the Admissions Committee furnish us with that information.

Please contact the SCA Office of Admission if you are interested in reapplying for a future term. Details about the application process will be available on our website."

Kind of flipping out right now! Did I miss my email because they sent it to the old address, or did I not get one?

I think SCA admission system is different…

thementor5, you are correct.

USC does not notify in emails or online - only by letter. Rejections go out the first week in April by postal mail.

^^ The SCA applications are handled slightly differently than other applications, IMO.

^ unless you are international. They send a DHL notice for intls

kalel4, perhaps because it’s a GRADUATE program?

oceanangel took the words straight out of my mouth.

Please note that, even if this is a legitimate email (?), it specifies a Master’s Degree Program. The admissions process is very different and handled by a different office.

It’s a rejection email for the GRADUATE program in SCA. It says MFA program.

oceanangel, even for Internationals, the DHL notice is a notice that a package is on its way. There is no information about acceptance in the DHL email.

alamemom, I assure you the email was real. Believe me when I tell you I wish that it wasn’t.

I can only assume that the SCA handles graduate acceptions/rejects differently than undergrad.

One way or the other, I’m on the tip of my nerves right now.

Are there any other graduate applicants out there that received this email?

Again, kale14, that email was concerning an application for Graduate admissions. *Graduate admissions *are a different application, submitted to a different office, decided upon by a different staff, with a different timetable, and different procedures. The applicants here applied to undergraduate programs. If you have information you would like to pass on to graduate applicants, you will find them on the “Professional and graduate programs” part of the forum.

The email you posted, even if it is legitimate, does not apply to these applicants.

Edit: Thank you kale14, for editing your post to clarify that the email was for a graduate application. That was very prompt. I am always impressed when a brand-new poster who just joined and has never posted before already knows how to use the bold codes and do edits. Good job!
